Talk about unreasonable, there is no reasoning with some people.

After dinner I surprise everyone by staying in the living room. Kenneth sidles up to me and whispers in my ear. “Sof, are you alright?” “I am very nervous, having Ava on one side helps. No matter what happens tonight, don’t try and hold me, because you’ll only make it worse.” I whisper back, Kenneth looks very confused, but there is nothing else I can say that won’t cause him to lose control and speak loud enough for our parents to hear. Ava squeezes my hand and whispers in my ear that I need to calm down, it will help keep Drew calm; and we need him as calm as can be. The three of us sit there holding hands, Ava also holding Lupe, for the longest time. It was probably only half an hour, but it felt much longer. We all heard a loud, purposeful knock on the door.

Mum and Darren look shocked, they weren’t expecting anyone; and the knock was very decisive as if whoever was on the other side knew they were expected. “Were you expecting anyone?” Darren asked the room at large. Kenneth shook his head just as confused as Darren and Mum; Ava nodded gently, it was almost difficult to tell she had nodded at all; and I nodded sharply, I know full well that Drew is on the other side of that door. Mum glares at me, she suspects who is standing outside her front door. I shrug as if I have no idea what is going on. Darren answers the door and the next thing we hear is Darren bellowing. “What the bloody hell are you doing here?” I can easily hear Drew’s response. “I am here to speak to you about my relationship with Sofia.” “You’ve got no bloody relationship with her, we finally put a stop to that nonsense.” I can hear Drew growling quietly, I am sure that Darren can hear it too, but I suspect that Darren is trying to pretend that it’s not real. Kenneth gets up from beside me and walks to the door, which he rips out of Darren’s hand. “Come in, I’m sorry about my Dad, he’s being an arsehole.” “Kenneth!” Mum admonishes, Kenneth ignores her. Kenneth comes back to my side and like Ava holds one of my hands.

Drew takes a seat as close to me as he can get, which is nowhere near as close as we would both like. “As I said I am here to speak to you about my relationship with Sofia, especially now that she is having my baby.” My eyes open wide with fear, he really just dropped a major bomb on me; and my family, seeing as I haven’t told them that I’m pregnant. All eyes swing to face me, Ava’s are supportive as are Kenneth’s (although he still has some very serious shock going on). Mum and Darren look like some one has removed their kidneys with a spoon. I giggle slightly as I think that, Drew chuckles along with me and Ava follows a moment later, as Drew must have shared what was funny with her. “What exactly do you find funny?” Asked Darren, between giggles I manage to spit a sentence out. “Your faces, you both look like someone has carved your kidneys out with a spoon.” I then fall back into laughter, Kenneth joining in this time as we all enjoy ourselves at the parents’ expense. Mum and Darren seem to calm down, so we make an effort to do the same.

“Well, I think that it would be better for Sofia to come and live with me.” Drew says at length. Mum and Darren get the spooned out kidney look again. “I beg your pardon? We have already told you that you are to have nothing to do with our daughter!” “I am not your daughter!” I say clearly and just barely in control of my wolf. “I am also an adult, so who I see is none of your business. This has gone on long enough. You are hurting me in ways you can’t even begin to imagine by keeping us apart. And all you are doing is delaying the inevitable, now I never knew my father, but I will not allow the same thing to happen to my child. Especially not simply because you just don’t like Drew.” I stand up and walk towards Drew. Only for both of the parents to grab me and shove me back down onto the sofa. “I have told you before Sofia, you will not be seeing that man while you live under my roof.” Darren spits at me. “Then I won’t be living here anymore.” I say calmly and actually unfazed by the thought of moving in with Drew. “But don’t expect to see your grandkids.” I finish and I think that is the moment that they realise I wasn’t joking about being pregnant. “You are not going anywhere!” Snarls my Mum.
