You'd met Marko on the boardwalk. You'd literally fallen into his lap. Or rather you'd been pushed. He, David and the other boys were sitting under the boardwalk and you'd been with your friends. One of them, who had never liked you very much, shoved you right over the edge.
Marko had caught you as you fell right in his lap and then looked delightedly at, who you knew was, Paul and had said. "I was just saying we should get another friend!"
David had chased your friends off and now you hung around the boardwalk with them.
It was cold when you left your house. It wasn't normally this cold. Hurrying along you tried to run to catch the bus but missed it and watched it pull away from the stop. With a sigh you trekked the long walk to the boardwalk, enjoying the golden hour as you went. By the time you got to the boardwalk it was dark. You started looking over a few stalls, getting people gifts as you saw something you thought people might like. As you got closer to the busier shops you saw Star and Marko by their bikes. When Marko saw you he waved both his arms as if he was flagging down a plane after being stranded.
"(Y/N)!" He shouted. Everyone looked your way and you laughed as you hurried over.
"Hey guys." You said as you hurried over.
"David and Dwayne went looking for you when you didn't get off the last bus." Star said as you reached them.
"Oh I missed it and I didn't want to wait too long for the next one. It won't be here for twenty minutes." You explained. She nodded and you watched Laddie hurry off to say that they had found you.
"You've already been shopping?" Marko asked curiously. He liked rummaging through your bags when you went shopping or if you'd gone beachcombing. The rest of the group came back while you and Marko headed towards the shops. You paused outside the comic shop, you needed one for your brother's gift. But when you looked inside you could see two boys peeking over the edge of the counter at you and decided you'd leave it for later.
"So what Mundane thing are we doing today?" David asked as he and the others caught up with you. Star saw something she wanted to look at and vanished in the crowd with Laddie with an eager wave at you.
"You know. I wanted to get a new movie but that guy from the store totally creeped me out." You said over the sound of the assorted music that overpowered the air.
"Which one? Max?" Paul asked.
"Yeah. My friend's big brother moved away. He once said that Max is a vampire. Which is total bunk because vampire's aren't real but he still creeps me out." You said with a shiver. At your mention of not believing in vampires, Paul and Marko looked at each other. They shared a grin and laughed. Even David smiled as he looked out over the boardwalk.
"Aw don't you worry about the vampires of the world. We've got you." Dwayne said though he sounded sarcastic. Dwayne threw an arm around your shoulder and started walking you towards the video store.
"Yeah!" Marko said as he hurried after you both. "We can do this guys. No one dies tonight."
"Oh! Haha Marko. But being scared of vampire's seems pretty sensible to me." You grumbled as Marko skipped alongside you with a grin on his face, he leant in and nudged you with his shoulder as he laughed.
"You don't seem that scared." Paul muttered. You almost missed what he said. But you didn't miss the way David hissed his name at him.
"I know what video it is. It's right at the back of the store." You said as you stopped outside. You all peered in and you pointed to the video. Max looked up slowly and you stiffened as he locked eyes with you.
"Aw man that vampire's looking right at you. Probably shouldn't go in there!" Dwayne jokes. You shoved his arm off and stuck your tongue out at him.
"You know if you had a phobia I wouldn't make fun of you." You said quickly. You walked to the store and turned back to them. "You're not going in?"
"We got banned last week." Marko said."I have to go in on my own!" You almost whined.
"Well if he eats you we'll tell the cops for you." Paul offered. You turned back and looked into the store. You were still being watched as you took a hesitant step to the door. Marko looked at the others who sighed.
"We'll come." Marko said. You let out a relieved sigh. Marko took your hand as you headed inside. You dragged him over to the video you wanted and pointed it out. Dwayne had to come over and get it off the shelf for you.
"Hi Marko, Paul." The cashier said as you went up to the counter and paid. All the while Max stared down David who stared back and didn't move an inch until you hurried back out.
"Do you need to get anything else?" Marko asked as he prodded your shopping bag.
"Just a comic from the store back there." You explained.
"That place! Ugh. I hate it. Star said that those kids are probably..." Marko had been about to say vampire hunters but Paul elbowed him in the ribs.
"Probably what?"
"Creeps." Dwayne added in.
"Nah they're just little kids. We should head down to the end of the boardwalk later." David said as he glanced around. You nodded and waited as Marko and Paul decided to go with you while David and Dwayne decided to go and look for Star.
