AN: I'm sorry I made this so sad.

It felt weird being in the apartment. You'd used your spare key to let yourself in. You had let Chris know you'd pick up some things that you'd left there. Scott had said he'd come and help you but Stiles had phoned on Mellissa's mobile to say there was no way Scott would be making it.

You'd bought the decorations. Lydia had wanted to help but couldn't bear it. It hasn't hit you yet. At least not until you had unlocked the door with the spare key and she hadn't come round the corner, recognising your special knock to let her know it was you. The apartment was still full of their things. Her jacket was hung on a hook and her shoes neatly placed in the shoe rack by the door. The apartment was full. But. empty.

It hurt to stand in the hallway. You couldn't imagine how it felt for Chris. It was probably why he'd been spending so much time helping at the station.

It hadn't occurred to you that Allison's things would still be everywhere. It wasn't like Chris had anyone to help him clean up. It was too soon for that. You had been holding on to a hope that she would come back. Even after the funeral. Buffy came back. You'd said to yourself. A useless hope.

You carefully unpacked the decorations and went back down in the elevator for the small christmas tree. You spent several hours carefully unpacking things and putting the tree up. You decorated each room until the bags were empty and at the bottom were the decorations she liked in her room. You didn't hear the door open but you went to open Allison's door and stopped. It was empty. Not the furniture. It was like someone had sucked the life out of the room. As if they had made it so cold it could never be warm. The feeling washed over you. The thing that made it into her room had gone with her and you hadn't realised. You'd just assumed it would stay. You dropped the decorations and put a hand to your mouth,

"(Y/N)?" Chris said.

"I... she alway has these in her room and... I can't. I can't do it. I thought I could just put them up and it would be the same." You blabbered through tears. Your words shuddered as fat tears rolled down your cheeks and you started to cry. It wouldn't change. It would be like she'd gone away for the weekend. It couldn't change. You weren't ready. You wouldn't ever be ready.

"I know." Chris said gently as he shut the door to her room and pulled you into a hug. You'd spent so many nights sleeping over with Allison. Chris had picked you both up after long nights out with the pack and covered for you. When your parents had gone out of town you'd stayed with them. It was your second home and now it was. It was just a place that you'd lived once.

"It feels empty doesn't it?" He said. You'd never seen Chris cry. You'd not been there with them when she'd gone so... you'd only gone to the hospital and he was hoping they'd come back and say that she pulled through. But he sounded close to tears now.

"How long did this take you? 3 hours?" Chris said. It was obvious that he was trying to distract you.

"Four on my own." You said as you snuffled. He gave you a pained look and used his sleeve to wipe your face the way he would with Allison.

"Well... how about I get you something to drink and... we can have something to eat?" He said as he led you through to the kitchen. He pulled out her chair. The one she always sat in and paused. "Sorry I..."

"It's ok." You said in a wobbly voice as you used the palm of your hands to wipe away your tears and tried to stop crying. He reached for her mug and went to put it back but made you drink in it anyway as you sat in your seat.

"My mom wanted to know if you'd like to come round for Christmas. Mellissa and the Sheriff have to work so everyone is coming to our house." You offered. When you'd told your mom that you planned to follow through on your tradition of decorating the Argent apartment like usal she'd squeezed your hand and given you a sad look. She had asked if it would be odd without Allison. You'd pointed out that he'd be alone for the first time on Christmas and she said to invite him.

"I'd love to." He said. Silence that was usually filled by the third person fell on you terribly. You didn't know what to say as he set your drink down and a sandwich in front of you.

"You know I have to meet a friend who has some new devices for handling werewolves... I wanted to try to be ahead of the other hunters. Maybe you could come?" He asked casually but his voice was strained. He normally took Allison. You nodded and said you'd have to check in at home.
