The next morning Bakugou woke Uraraka up respectfully, letting her shuffle around her room and make it to the kitchen without incident.
She ate her cookie from Mistress Recovery as well as plenty of breakfast.
"Where are Mina and Kiri?" Uraraka asked.
"They're meeting us there." Bakugou replied.
"Oh okay. Well I'm ready to go if you are."
Bakugou nodded and they left the house together. Ground Zero and Uravity followed, seeming pleased to spend the morning together.
"You two spend a lot of time together now." Uraraka teased Uravity.
Uravity gave Uraraka a look like she would say the same about Uraraka and Bakugou.
"Please. He's just training me. It doesn't mean anything. I'm sure he can't wait to go back to normal."
Uravity shook her head and Uraraka tried to ignore the sinking feeling she had.
When they got to the training area Mina ran over to Uraraka and said, "Good morning!"
"Good morning Mina." Uraraka replied.
"What's wrong? You look upset."
"It's nothing Mina don't worry about it."
And it was nothing, right? If she was just a blip in Bakugou's life and he went back to ignoring her, she'd be fine. All these other people truly cared about her, what did it matter if Bakugou didn't?
She tried to brush it off as they started to train again. But she kept getting distracted.
"Oi! Cheeks, what the fuck is your problem?! You almost crushed yourself with that fucking boulder!" Bakugou yelled at her after she almost dropped a huge boulder she'd been levitating.
"Sorry!" She yelled.
Mina walked over to Uraraka after that. "You sure you don't want to talk?" Mina asked.
"Mina, I know you're trying to be nice, but I just don't want to talk about it. Okay?"
Mina pouted. "Okay. I'm here, any time you do want to talk though."
"Thank you."
"Mina! Patrol time!" Kiri yelled from across the field.
"See you later. Please try to be safe. I don't want to lose my new best friend."
Mina sprinted across the field to Kiri and they left.
As Uraraka watched Mina leave she noticed Bakugou was watching her. She couldn't tell his expression from where she was, but she figured he was mad. So she took a deep breath and walked over to Bakugou. She stared at the ground and waited for him to yell at her.
"Oi." He said softly and flicked her forehead.
"Rude! That hurt." She grumbled looking up at him.
"No it didn't. I didn't hit you that hard."
He was right, but she didn't tell him that.
"You going to spit out whatever's going on in your head or are you just going to keep spacing out?"
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Then we're done for day."
"What?!"
"You can't train like this, you're going to fucking kill yourself by mistake."
"But there's only two more days!"
"I know."
"I need to train."
"Then you know what you have to do."
"It's...it's stupid."
"Stupid or not, you almost killed yourself 3 times during training today."
"Fine, I feel like I don't matter here."
"Why?"
"You all have amazing long lives ahead of you, I'm just a blip in your lives. The tournament will end and you'll all stop caring."
"Tch. None of those idiots will stop caring."
Uraraka started to blush, could she even get this out? "Will you stop? Caring, I mean."
She couldn't look up, she just stared at her shoes.
"You're an idiot."
"Um, what?"
"I'm fucking here aren't I? I haven't left, so why would I put time into helping you and then just leave?"
"Because you're busy? Because you hate me? I don't know!"
"Get out of your fucking head. I can't believe this is the shit you're thinking about right now instead of focusing on training!"
"I can't help it! I'm a human, every emotion I feel is strong."
"Well, you got your fucking answer right? So move past it, and get your ass training!"
Uraraka groaned. 'He was right, I did get my answer, I was overthinking, and I should be focused on training.'
Uraraka moved away and picked up the rock again. This time she was focused. She had to remind herself why she was doing this.
The rest of training she came at with a new resolve. She needed to get her act together. And that's what she did.
After training ended, they walked back to the house. "Thank you Bakugou." Uraraka said as they were walking.
"For what?" He asked.
"Helping me get back on track. I almost forgot why I was doing this. Why I asked for your help in the first place."
"Emotions can be helpful, but you have to channel that shit. Don't let it spiral out of control, you lose focus, you lose control of your magic."
"I know. Surprised you do, king of anger."
"I've told you it's passion, with lots of yelling and explosions."
Uraraka started laughing and Bakugou joined in. When they reached the front door, they walked in and could smell the food before they saw it. Mitsuki had outdone herself. She'd left another note.
"Don't let that brat work you to death, Uraraka. Rest is important too, and so is food.
-Mitsuki""Huh?! I wouldn't work you to fucking death! I'm not a monster." Bakugou yelled.
"Yeah yeah, you're a huge softie." Uraraka rolled her eyes. "Just enjoy the food. It smells amazing."
"Tch."
They loaded up plates and Uravity and Ground Zero grabbed their own food as well. Uraraka tried to eat like a civilized person, but today she'd felt drained and she was starving. She wolfed down her food.
"I'm going to bed. I'm exhausted. Night Bakugou."
"Night Uraraka." Bakugou said looking up from his food for only a second.
She made her way to her room, and took a relaxing bath. She let her muscles relax and tried to calm herself. The tournament was two days away and she still didn't feel ready, but she didn't let herself dwell on in.
After her bath, she got dressed for bed and fell asleep.
