Chapter 2

Abella’s POV

I open my eyes and find myself on the floor of the McCabe dining room floor. Maria presses a warm towel against my forehead, her face appears worried, and out of the corner of my eye I see Celsey standing behind Maria biting her lip. I try to sit up and Maria places a hand on my shoulder to help me. Suddenly everything comes back to me and my heart starts to race.

Was it possible that Rick had found me? I had to move, I always had to keep moving just in case he was following. Staying in one place was never a good idea and I wouldn’t put the McCabe family in harms way by staying here the night.

“I have to go” I say and rush to my feet. The world spins and I steady myself trying to maintain my balance

“Sweetie, who are you running from?” Maria asks quietly. I look away from her and down at the floor. I stay silent and I hear her sigh. “Honey, we can’t help you if you don’t open up”

I proceed to try and ignore her and start picking at my finger nails when the front door bursts open. I squeak in shock and Maria rubs my back slowly. My panic diminishes when I see that it is just Colby. He is standing in the door, shotgun in hand when he sees me his fierce expression softens.

“It was just Pete” he says. “Got quiet a scare when I came up behind him with the shot gun” he chuckles.’

“Did you tell him we ain’t selling?” Remington asks angrily. I jump back as Remington storms towards Maria who is standing next to me. Everyone freezes and I am sure the terror on my face and the fact that I scramble back across the floor is horrifying since that’s what everyone’s expression is currently portraying.

“I’m sorry” I whisper and look to the floor.

“I’d never hurt you, Abella” Remington says sadly. “In fact I would never lay a hand on a women”

“I’m sorry.” I say again.

“You have nothing to be sorry for Abella. It is not your fault that someone hurt you” I look at him in shock. “Yes I know someone has hurt you I’m not sure how badly but from your reaction to men, I’d say fairly badly.” Remy smiles softly and I feel my eyes brimming with tears.

“All right Caden and Celsey, its homework time for you” Maria suddenly says. I hear the twins complain but give in and head upstairs.

“Where were you heading before I picked you up?” Maria asks softly.

“Nowhere” I say. “I know he won’t look for me in a town called Nowhere he would expect me to head to a city”

“Do you have anyone we can call for you?” she asks.

“I only have one person, Alison. She helped run but you can’t call her. If I do he will find me” I say. I can feel their eyes on me but I don’t look up.

“Who?” someone asks.

“My boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend.” I whisper. “If it’s alright I think I should head up to bed. I’m so tired.”

“That’s fine, Sweetheart.” Maria says and helps me to my feet.

Remington smiles softly at me. My eyes move to Colby his expression gives nothing away.

“Goodnight” I whisper.

“Goodnight Abella” Colby says and with that I turn and wonder up the stairs towards my room.

COLBY

She was beautiful. Possibly the most beautiful girl I had ever laid eyes on. Her blonde hair curled around her face and her eyes were this amazing smoky grey. When I caught her in my arms when she had fainted I had known immediately that she was my soul mate.
