Mmm... Howl is perfect, you have no idea. Like  I can probably write a whole essay on him, I think we all need a Howl, or a Sophie in our lives.

You were staring out the window from your room, leaning on the window frame, you had no net on your window. At first you were uneasy of not having one, but after a while you've gotten used to it. Seeing all those people happily walking in the streets, looking like they're living their free life. Made you feel a bit jealous, you really had no goals, or plans for your future. It made you feel lost, not knowing what to do. All you do is sit around doing random daily things with no real reason behind them. Sighing you go back to sit on your bed, patting the head of your cat as it was napping. As you were doing so, you were getting sleepy and started to doze off. Suddenly your cat screeched making you jump as something flew through your window to your bedroom floor. It made a thump sound making your cat run away and you peeked to see what the item was.

"A bag?"

You stood up and hesitated whether picking it up or not. Deep in thought you didn't notice a certain someone at your window. A knock startled you looking up.

There was a blonde haired guy standing outside your third floor window. "My apologies, could you perhaps hand me that." The guy says calmly pointing to the bag that has landed on the floor, "It's not dangerous, please." You slowly grabbed the bag, whatever was inside was a bit heavy, it didn't really have a shape, putting you other hand under it, it was warm. You went to the window and handed it to him, he gave you a smile, "Thank you so much dear."

You looked down to see where he was standing, he was just barely touching the windows border from outside. You looked back up to him, confused "Wha..."

"I should be on my way now... thanks again."

You were just about to scream as you watched him jump down, and disappeared from your sight. Shocked you looked around your room and went back to your bed.

"What... was that?"

After that day, everyone around you called you crazy. A man standing on thin air outside your window? As if anyone will believe that, yet that was the only thing you had the whole week. You knew for a fact that you weren't going crazy. Specially since you were sitting outside of a cafe and heard two girls behind you talking about a guy which sounded very familiar to you. "He's very good looking for a magician," one said and the other one replies, "what did you think that all magicians are old?" Girl 1 continues, "hearing all the stories from others, you don't really think someone who eats hearts is going to look that nice, do you?" Girl 2 sighs, "you know, not all monsters look like monsters. Some monsters can look nice but on the inside they're not."

"It's probably because of that healthy looking blonde hair, nice soothing voice with the nice clothes style and that beaut-" girl 2 interrupts girl 1, "stop. Are you hearing yourself? There are people who are actually scared of him and you're finding him handsome?"

"Sorry but it's true."

He eats hearts? Is that even possible?

Surely, thinking through all the absurd and shocking things that had happened around the city, it might be believable enough. People being cursed and going disappearing, magic surely is capable of anything.

"Ugh, finally. I have arrived!" Ann exclaimed excitedly as she joins you at the table. "Sorry for being late, there's so many people because of the celebration and stuff," she explains as she fans herself. Ann, one of your friends, the one who talks the most to you. "But anyways, guess who got invited to the annual ball?" You raised your eyebrows, the ball held annually only for those who get invited. "I did! And you did too," she handed you an invitation.

Time skip

It was your first time going to a ball, so you were very excited.

You're not one to listen to slow dancing or ballad music but the one that started playing sounded beautiful. It wasn't too slow, had different instruments and didn't keep the same beat. It's a good song. So good that you felt the music deep inside your body, like it's telling you to dance.

But you don't know how to slow dance.

"You seem like you want a dance," you whipped your head quickly towards that soothing voice you had once heard. There he was, the blonde handsome man, he held out his hand. "Would you like a dance, dear?" You look around in shock, nobody was looking your way, but everything seemed normal. "Is there something wrong?" You were waiting for Ann as she went to get you both drinks. "No it's just..." you look down at his hand as it was inching closer to yours. "If there's no trouble then I hope you don't mind having a dance with me." His blue eyes were shining alone with that smile of his. It was a reassuring smile more than a happy one. "I don't know..."

"Hmm, well in that case then I'll teach you, come here." He says and pulls your hand pulling you closer to him, "one hand here, and the other right here." Placing your hand on his shoulder and other on his hand he pulled you in even closer with his other hand on your hip. "Is this alright?"

"It's one step back, and then turn left, follow me," he moves and you follow him. Small steps making sure not to step on him,  you keep what he mentioned in mind.

'Step back'

'Turn left'

"Then step forward and left," you do as he says and he smiles at you, "see you got it."

He kept his eyes on you the whole time. You watched as his blonde hair and those emerald earrings sway one way and another. His blue eyes pierced yours, in a comforting way.

'Step back'

'Turn left'

'Step forward'

'Turn left'

"May I ask, what's your name?" You answer and then ask him, "and yours?"

"I'm Howl, nice to meet you," he brings his hand that's holding yours for a kiss. "Howl?" You ask and he nods, "I can see you've heard about me somewhere. But I can assure you that I mean no harm." You look around if someone were watching you and catch a glimpse of Ann standing in surprise with two cups in her hands. You make eye contact and she smiles brightly putting a thumbs up. "I apologize again for startling you that other day, it seemed like my package really liked your room." He says and you shook your head, "it's alright, but I wouldn't really recommend jumping of the third floor you know..." he laughs.

"Oh, I never thought of asking but... do you have a date that accompanied you here? I wouldn't like to interfere-" you cut him off as he was starting to slow down his pace, "no, I mean... I was accompanied but by a friend. I'm sure she's doing alright," he looks to the side briefly and nods. "Alright, then I'm sure she wouldn't mind if we were to take a stroll outside, correct?"

He had your hand placed on his forearm with his other hand placed on top, as you two walked through the outside of the ball room. "Is the rumor true?"

He hummed, "what rumor, dear?"

"That you eat hearts," he side eyes you and then chuckles, "and if it were true would that be a problem?"

"Ah..."

He stops and faces you, "I don't eat or take hearts. But, if you'd like to give me it... I'll accept it with open arms."
