Chapter 3
This day is turning out to be more horrible than I had planned. Lillian entered the room just as the words left my mouth and suddenly; the phone that was apparently always attached to her ear fell to the floor.
This cannot be good.
“What did you just say?” she asked. Anger was dripping from her voice and I could feel Goosebumps rising on the back of my neck. But I too was strong; I was not going to back down, not now at least
“You heard what I said, both of you” I said, pointing a finger in their direction and not caring how rude it was. “I want to break up.”
For a few second the room went completely silent and that’s what scared me the most. The only thing worse than Lillian’s yelling was her silence.
“Oh my god, this is why you suggested this? I mean you wanted to come here not to support him and get all the extra publicity, but to breakup with him, right? And I though you’ve finally started taking your career seriously! How stupid can I possibly be?”
“Lillian listen, I am serious about my career. Its just that I don’t think I can live this lie any more.”
“Oh so now what? You’re just going to throw all my hard work away? All those press conferences, tweets, meeting, photos…everything!”
“Well, I never asked you to do all that. You could have just done what every other PR manager does, you know. Got me work, help me with interviews; get me to go to all the right clubs and parties. But no, you went ahead and set me up with the person I hate the most in the world! You made me lie to the entire world. You made me a bigger phony than I ever was!”
I don’t know from where I got all this courage, but I liked the fact that I had it. “Oh what on earth is that supposed to mean, huh? That I’m not doing my job properly? That I’m not a god PR manager? If it were not for me, you would have still been a nobody. Just going from here to there with your hideous headshots, which too by the way, highlighted the bad side of your face!”
By now we were both yelling and just then Jeremy decided to speak. “Okay, just hold your horses! What’s the matter with you two? You know what, don’t answer that I know what the matter is. You are both crazy! Now, lets settle this down like adults. Eleanor," he said, now looking directly at me "what’s the matter now? Why do you want to break up with me? Like seriously, just look at me.” He pouted and ran his hands all over his body. i know he was trying to be seductive and that i was supposed to be fuming in anger but i couldn't help cracking up.
“See, I even make you laugh. So now why do you want to screw up your luck and let go of most eligible bachelor in town?”
“B-because I’m tired. I’m tired of all the lying, pretending hiding. For once in life, I just want to focus on my career while not having to worry about spending more-than-tolerable hours with you. All the fake pictures, interviews, ads? I’m just tired!”
Lillian sighed, figuring out that there is no talking me out now. She too knows that once I make up my mind about something, it is almost impossible to change it. if it wasn't for that particular personality trait I would have never gotten into modeling.
Even Jeremy who did not know me so well knew what would be the future of our relationship. “Okay, fine. We’ll end this drama once and for all but we’ll end it my way.” He said.
