As if there is always something sturing, new york had a constant grey atmosphere. Some say its from pollution others say its an artifitial climate made to make vampires more comfortable. Either way it was miserable.

On this particular day it was raining, pouring it down even, but it was on days like this that sweet pheremones were weakest. y/n waits for days like this to be able to leave the safety of their house and gather what they need.

Not that its rare for it to be like this, 7/10 times its raining and she took advantage of that often.

It had been a quiet few years, minus the whole attack on new york. Lead by the asgardian prince Loki who was stationed as a strong vampie who held lots of power on asgard and even more on earth. That is he would if he wasn't held captive by the avengers. A team made up of powerful vampires and humans who manage to work together.

it's rumoured that in the team they made up different pairs, one human one vampire in each and both would benifit from the arangement. This didn't just aply for the team. It wasn't uncomon to come across people who's main source of blood was their partner, friend or room mate.

The arrangement would often be 'I let you drink my blood, you protect me from other vampires.' And 90% of the time it worked. y/n hapened to be an exception to the satitstic.

Lockig the door to their apartment behind them, y/n headed down the stairs and out of th complex building to the busy streets of new york and headed down their usual rout to the outdoor market, not far from their block.

Something that made life a little more difficult was pheremones. A scent that mostly vampires used to force humans into submission, vampires say humans have different pheremones depending on the quality of their blood, which give off such a sweet smell it would have a vampire flowting over to them as if they were a cartoon pie in an open window.

though it was uncommon for a human to exist with such strong pheremones that vampires can detect them from blocks away there were ways for them to go undetected. since its hard for such humans to have a bond or relationship with a vampire. Going out in the rain, which coveres up most tracks of pheremones, is a best bet at being safe while going about their day.

another is to live in larg buildings with many tennents to cover up the pheremones so they mix and are hard to separate.

Others are just part of every day activities such as washing clothes frequently and not rewearing inbetween washes, showering/ bathing 2-3 times a day, changing sheets once every 2 days and being resiliant at all times. Any cuts, scrapes and wounds need to be covered and the human shouldn't leave their 'safe space' until its closed up.

as y/n reached the market and relaxed a little as they saw it was fairly busy and would be easy to hid in they adjusted their knitted scarf to make sure their neck was covered and brought it over their mouth aswell to help protect he from pheremones. Usually they wore a mask with perfume on the inside but the band to go round their ear snapped so they were on the hunt for a few new ones today aswel.

Just another precaution they took to survive.
