As I walked down to breakfast Ron caught up to me.
“Hi,” he said, sounding remorseful. “I'm so sorry, I can't believe I called you that, and i'm just really sorry and please can you forgive me?” he said it incredibly fast so it all came out in a rush.
When put in a position like this, one word is always enough.
“No,” was my answer. “you called me a mudblood. Twice. I'm not going to be friends with someone who tries to make themselves bigger by bringing others down.”
“but I said sorry!”
“doesn't matter. You've done it twice, you don't learn, and you can stay away from me,” I told him, tears in my eyes. He had been my best friend for years, and now I was supposed to just cut him off. That's not easy.
“hermione...”
I walked away from him right there. Left him standing there all alone. Walked into breakfast. And didn't talk to him any more.

EPILOGUE
4 YEARS LATER
Draco and I were sitting in my parent’s garden, just talking.
Suddenly Draco burst out four words as if he couldn't hold them in anymore.
“Will you marry me?”
I just stared at him, speechless, nodding my head up and down slowly at first, then more vigorously.
“OF COURSE!” I shouted, kissing him. He took out a small jewelry box, took out a beautiful ring, silver and gold banded together with emeralds and rubies forming a heart for the centerpiece. Gryffindor and slytherin united. He placed it on my finger, and kissed me.
