After I got home, I went straight to bed, completely ignoring the constant squeaking noises from my mom's bedroom. If my mom was having some sort of an affair, that was ok with me, but seriously, Mark needed to chill.
I tossed my new spider suit on my desk chair, when my phone buzzed. It was a text from Gerrit.
'My brother is throwing a party at my house tonight and I don't want to be alone, wanna come?'
My face nearly exploded. My crush wanted me to join him at a party!? Wait, no. He probably just invited me because no one else wanted to go with him.
‘Sure, I'll be over in a sec.’ I replied back.
I was completely exhausted from crime fighting. I had only caught two robbers, but still, since I wasn't used to it, I was exhausted. I decided to go to the party, but would come home at 2am so I could at least get some sleep. I stuffed my suit under my bed and threw on sweatpants and a sweatshirt. I grabbed my cheap plastic water bottle and placed my hacking watch around my wrist. Who knows, I might need it. As I passed my mom's bedroom, I noticed that the squeaking had stopped.
I made sure my phone was in my pocket, and then left my apartment. As I was walking down the steps, I heard someone a few floors above me. I decided to speed up because I didn't know who they were, and I didnt want to find out. As I left the building, I noticed many people in large winter coats bustling about to stay cold.
I thanked my spider powers, because after I was bitten, my body adjusted to the temperature much like a reptiles’.
Gerrit lived in the suburbs of New York, so I decided to take the subway just this once. And back of course. I walked down the steps to the subway and boarded the train that was already at the station. I checked the schedule. It would be a few stops before I could get off, so I decided to get comfy.
Just before the subway was about to leave, a man in a winter coat hurried in the same car I was in. He had the hood pulled over his head, so I couldn't see his face. He looked over at me and sat at the opposite end of the car.
I didn't think much of it, maybe he was late night drug dealing. I shrugged it off and unlocked my phone so I could play Clash of Clans. I know, it’s a boys’ game, but Gerrit and Luke dared me to get it, so now we battle each other every once and a while. At 11:30, the train announcer announced that this was the ‘New York Suburb Stop.’ I gathered my things, and as the subway door opened, I stepped off.
My spider sense tingled, and I glanced behind me. The man in the oversized winter coat had gotten off at the same stop that I had. He began walking in the same direction as I was! Because I was not a scaredy-cat, I decided to catch him red handed and confront him. As I walked on the sidewalk, I turned to one of the nearby alleyways. Sure enough, so did the stalker.
I went down the dark alleyway and hid behind the trash can, as the man walked past my hiding spot, I stuck out my leg and tripped him. I jumped on his back and pinned him down, Holding his head to the ground.
“Who are you and what do you want?” I demanded.
“Calm down Art, It’s me, Mark!” Mark? What did he want with me?
“Don’t call me Art! You didn't answer my question. What do you want?” He squirmed underneath me, trying to escape my grip. Too bad it wont work, you can't beat a spider-person in a strength contest.
“Your mom wanted me to make sure you would be fine!” I pressed his head closer to the concrete.
“That’s a lie! She doesn't care about me.” I jumped off of him and pulled him up. I pulled him to the subway steps and pushed him to the railing. “Go home.” I released his arm and started walking to Gerrit’s house.
