Chapter- 11 birth and death took place in the same minute
2 weeks later...
"Eleanor! He's awake!" Beatrice said running into Eleanor's room. then she saw Eleanor holding her stomach and gasping. "What's wrong?" She questioned. "The baby, I think it's coming." Beatrice freaked out and called a midwife. "Here." She said handing Eleanor a towel and helping her to the bed. "Thanks."
Once i'd woken from nearly over dosing, i felt almost completely nothing. Then i heard Beatrice yell and everything hit me all at once. The anger, the uselessness, the fear, the flash backs. Beatrice kissing my wife, MY WIFE! she had cheated. I didn't die, I DIDN'T DIE! Why? Then i heard more screaming coming from Eleanor. It sounded as if she was in pain. I thought for a second...Help her or end my misery. My heart ached, meet my unborn child or be happy. I knew deep down the screams were sounds effects of child labor. But i couldn't bare to meet this kid. It wasn't made on love, no, it was made based off of nothing but pure lies.
Beatrice fluffed Eleanor's pillows and held her hand. "Do you want me to get John?" Beatrice asked. "No! I don't need John, all i need right now is you!" The midwife started encouraging Eleanor to push. So she did while squeezing Beatrice's hand tighter. "Really sure you don't want John?" Beatrice asked once more. "No! I do not want him...He'll just make snarly drunken comments." Eleanor struggled to say. "Ok breathe." The midwife said, Eleanor took deep breaths.
What will be the best way to knock me out...forever. I wondered. The rest of the Vodka bottle and the other Vodka bottle. That'll do. Set my mind free of these burdens. I slowly drank as all i could see and hear was Eleanor and Beatrice. Then everything faded out, i hit the floor. But there was no feeling left in my body then the warmth disappeared. I was really gone this time! Or so i hoped.
"Push..1..2..3" The baby had been born and placed into Eleanor's arms. Eleanor's grip loosened off the baby and Beatrice, her arm fell to the side. "Eleanor? Are you ok?!" Beatrice said. "Yea, just tired." Beatrice carried the baby over to the bassinet and carefully set her down. "I'm going to tell John." Beatrice said leaving the room.
"John? John...Jo-" She gasped at what she had saw. Jonathan was on the floor, with no pulse. "No! no! no! no! no! no!, Oh my god." Beatrice had lifted Jonathan into a sitting position. "Is he really gone?" She whispered. Then placed her head onto his chest to listen for a heart beat, No sound came.
"Birth and death took place in the same minute
A new life poured in as an old one faded out
The grim reaper had chosen to strike
Like he waited for this visit
His aim hit right as one sprout
Ripped a man from his wife
Illness leaves my skin flushed
My body is so weak I've given up
Birth revoked my last strength
A cold breeze brushed
Gently rocking the bassinet to keep the baby shut
Why did the grim reaper wait until this length."
"Beatrice..." Eleanor said in a breathy way while holding Beatrice's hand; with the little strength she had left. "I think I'm sick." She whispered. Bea placed a light kiss on her forehead. "You'll be ok, I'll take care of you." Bea smiled. "This is the sickest I've ever felt...I don't know if I'll make it." Eleanor said as tears ran down her cheek. Beatrice wiped her tears as they fell. "You won't die! I refuse to let you." Beatrice began crying as well. "No don't cry, please lay with me." Beatrice climb under the covers and held Eleanor tightly. "Wait what if I get you sick?" Eleanor asked. "Shh!! And I could care less." Beatrice said kissing her forehead.
