The hospital let me out yesterday and now i was in the car going God knows where to a nut house. The miles seemed to stretch as far as they possibly could and 400 miles seemed to take an eternity. The car ride was full of Mom's disapproval of me and then her empty apologies for sending me away. I just put my headphones in and let the bass carry me away. Eventually we arrived at a large gray building practically in the middle of nowhere. My Mom was emotionless, as she pulled my bags out of the back of the car. She ushered me to the front door where she looked at me, really looked at me for the first time since she found me drowning in my crimson regrets. The moment was cut short when a lady with blond hair pulled back into a loose ponytail came and opened the door. California didn't have many mental hospitals so i had no fucking clue where i was going to be kept for god knows how long. The blond girl was dressed up in white and she reached for the bags in my mom's hands
"Hello", she said smiling , "Are You Skylar" she asked through perfectly red lips
"uh, yeah." i held my hand out awkwardly to shake her hand but she ignored it and turned to my mom
"so must be her mom, Mrs. Alexander, right?"
"yes, are you the woman I spoke to on the phone."
"No, that was one of the other nurses." she said taking the bags out of my mom's hands "This is a great place and we'll make sure Skylar feels included, like part of the team.
"Good, well i have an appointment at 5:00 so i have to go but thank you for taking her off my hands." then she turned around and walked back to the car. Not even a goodbye just seven words that settled like poison. "Thank you for taking her off my hands."
The smiley nurse still holding my bags turned and started to walk back inside. "This way deary" She said. She led me down a winding hallway to a door with the number 112 painted on the door in curling and feminine font. "This will be your room sweat heart, this is the girls part of the building. obviously boys and girls don't room together. This building runs on different levels of trust you're on level one so you are confined to your room until you reach level 2 which could take any amount of time, it all depends on how trustworthy you are. your food will be brought to you along with your medication, and when you reach level to on of the nurses will chaperon you around the building and you can meet the others that live here."
"Are there only two levels?"
"No, after you reach level two i'm sure someone will tell you about the other 28 levels but right now we'll let you adjust." She opened the door to a pink and green room. It was monstrous and i would be stuck in here until i reach level two.......out of 30. The were a looked like green apples and the pink dresser, bed, desk, and curtains made it look like the My Little Ponies threw up in it. The nurse put my bag down on the bed and started taking out clothes, checking them, folding them and laying them down on the bed.
"uh hello?" I asked yanking the pair of pants that she held out of her hands.
"Skylar if you behave this way i doubt you'll reach level two any time soon." She said taking them back from me.
"I don't give a shit, that mine! Not yours! Mine!" I was furious. She pushed a button on her key chain and stood there until two men dressed in white came in the door and grabbed me and held me as she resumed snooping in my stuff.
