Alphas, Betas, and Omegas. That's the social hierarchy in this universe. That's how the worlds been split up for centuries.

Alphas, the more masculine of the 3 groups. Any gender can be an Alpha, but more than 80% are men. A woman Alpha is sort of rare, and anything in between is the same. About 10% of women Alpha's prefer women, 8% prefer men, and around 2% don't care. Most Alpha's have more of a Masculine anatomy as well. no periods, & no birth control needed.

Alphas have ruts, Omegas have Heats, and Betas have neither. Beta's are (normally) the safe ground between overly Dominant and overly Submissive.

Betas, the safe ground. if you're a Beta you can basically do whatever you want. you're not expected to be with an Alpha or an Omega and you aren't expected to be marked (or to mark). if you're a Beta you're Intersex, or you have hermaphroditism. it just means that you have both genitals and both sets of reproductive organs. you don't have Heats or Ruts, so you just kind of have fun.

but, only about 19% of the population is Betas. a few hundred years ago, there were only Alphas and Omegas, but Betas were soon founded. it's an even cut between Omegas and Alphas, around 40.5% of the population are Omegas, and around 40.5% of the population is Alphas.

Omegas, they're the submissives. they wear the skirts, and the makeup, and the heels. in a normal society, way back when (just the normal world without this AU, in like the 60's) they'd be seen as the Women, while the Alphas are seen as the Men. Just like Alphas, Omegas can be any gender, but a little more than 70% of omegas are women. The other 30% or so are men/anything in between.

Men Omegas are looked down upon more than a Woman Alpha, but it's been more normalized as times change.

Ruts. An Alpha's rut only lasts a week, it's only ever lasted a week. A rut is similar to a heat, but it makes an Alpha more dominant, controlling, demanding. The alpha gets super horny and the rut does not go away unless the Alpha waits it out or gets an Omega. An Omega has to completely summit to the Alpha when they're in a rut, listening to every order they're given. A rut is normally very easy to hide, but the scent is what normally gives it away. The scents of both the Alphas and Omegas get stronger, like way stronger, when they're in heat/rut.

Right, Heats. An Omega's heat is normally about a week long, sometimes 2, but the longest it could ever go is 3 weeks. Heats are literal hell. you're hot and sweaty basically 24/7, you're hella moody, and extremely horny, and it's harder than a bitch to hide. An Omega's heat can be sat through and dealt with, or the Omega can get an Alpha to help. The Omega's heat will end after a few rounds and the Alpha Knots the Omega. No one really knows what a Knot is, besides that it's similar to an orgasm but it takes a few minutes to end. A little over 5 minutes, and a little under 10. Alphas can only knot Omegas, same with marking.
