"I can't sleep. What a pain"
Kyo had been lying awake on the floor for what felt like ages; he couldn't stop thinking about the curse. There's no way he could ever get someone to fall in love with him, so he had to think of a bucket list or something before he turned into a cat forever. "Number one is to beat that bastard Yuki."
He figured he'd find the guy and challenge him to a duel at some point soon. "So you're not even going to try to break the curse?" a part of him thought.
Well it's not like anyone could love me.
"What about Tohru? She treated you like you weren't a filthy alley cat."
It would never work. She'll ease off eventually.
"But what if she doesn't? What if she could help you break the curse?"
She has to fall in love with me. Not the other way around. Or did you forget who you are?
"She doesn't seem to mind. In fact, it seems like she likes you! Why else would she ask to see you again?"
To have another charity case? I'm sure it eases her conscience or something.
"Just give it a shot."
...Fine.
He stopped arguing with himself and decided to test the waters tomorrow. Who knows, maybe it could work.
That Tohru girl is certainly interesting, I'll give her that much. I wonder why she said she wasn't sure what her "rank" is?
Oh, right. That guy earlier said she used to be kinda poor too I guess. So how come Yuki took her in? I'll have to ask her tomorrow. She'll definitely ask me more questions too, though. Am I ready for her to ask personal questions?
"Kyo..." she breathed, blushing lightly.
The ginger's face turned bright red and he rolled over and growled at himself. "Dammit, why is she so cute?!" He tried getting his mind off of her, but his brain always ended right back with her.
The way she smiled at him with such genuine kindness. How she didn't immediately scold him for stealing, and instead listened with understanding.
"The way she looked at me when I was on top of her..."
He rolled onto his stomach and screamed into his pillow in an attempt to relieve the stress. "God DAMMIT!" he yelled, scrunching into a ball and throwing the pillow across the room. Finally, he stood up and began pacing around. "I'm supposed to see her again tomorrow evening at sunset. But will she be mad if I show up early? What am I supposed to do until then?" he thought aloud.
He decided that he would show up a bit early and if she had a problem with it, tough. He huffed and continued to pace around the room. Finally, the broke boy decided to train.
Usually, training helped get things off his mind, so he picked up his sword that he hid in his room, and began practicing techniques his master taught him. Eventually he was glistening with sweat, but pleased with himself. He hadn't thought about Tohru once the whole time!
"Shit." he thought, falling right back into it. Why was this so hard? He just met her, and he can't stop thinking about her now, and it was really pissing him off! He wished he had something better to wear so he didn't feel so tattered in front of her that evening. But he only really had one change of clothes, and they weren't much better. But they were what he had, so he got up and decided to do something.
