12 - Good Guy

You explained to everyone after you introduced them and surprisingly, they weren't even all that surprised. While you and Kokonoi talked, Rindou spent his time trying to convince Ichigo that Akashi was a shitty last name.

"I got it on video." Kokonoi holds up his phone to Rindou. "I'm telling on you to Akashi."

There was only one person who went by Akashi in Bonten and that was Haruchiyo's older brother, Takeomi. Rindou narrowed his eyes at Koko and slowly faced him.

"You wouldn't dare." Rindou says.

"Oh, I definitely would." Kokonoi chuckles. "But I'll delete it for a million yen."

Rindou went silent for a second and got out his phone. After a few taps on the screen, Kokonoi's phone lit up. Rindou had transferred a million yen to Kokonoi's account at that instant.

"Pleasure doing business with you." Koko grins, deleting the video before turning to you. "Shall we?"

Ichigo had his operation that day and while waiting, your phone rings. It was Sanzu calling you so you answered without hesitation.

"How's the kid?"

"We're still waiting. Where are you anyway?" You ask, wondering why he was taking too long to deal with Ichigo's last adoptive parents.

"I'm back at my place, just about to take a shower. I'll call when I'm done."

"Okay." You answer

Ichigo finally came out with the surgeon, both eyes fully covered. You held your phone away from your ear and ended the call before standing to meet them.

"I love y—"

The phone call ends abruptly and Sanzu stares at his phone screen for a good minute in complete silence. He was starting to think that whatever you two had before could never be fully repaired with the way you respond to his advances, not knowing that you never really heard him speak because you were already focused on Ichigo.

You were told that Ichigo had to wear the eye patches the whole day and Rindou took the responsibility of carrying him so that Ichigo didn't have to walk on his own. You could have done it yourself but Rindou insisted.

A clear eye shield was given to you, something Ichigo had to wear for the duration of his recovery which was going to take several weeks. Hopefully, his body won't reject the transplant.

Your phone rings again and you answer it without even looking at the caller ID, already knowing it was Sanzu on the other line.

"I just finished showering. Where are you?"

Since you were all on your way to get something to eat, you tell him you would text him the address before ending the call.

Ichigo seemed to be quite comfortable with Rindou and Kokonoi, the two making sure that Ichigo wouldn't feel left out despite being the only child. For dinner, Rindou took you all to a nearby restaurant. You made sure to feed Ichigo slowly, careful to not make him choke on his food.

You've already told Sanzu to come but he has still not arrived. You were beginning to think he would never show up tonight which made you worry. He might have gotten in trouble on the way here.
