Smiling to herself, Cassie opened her eyes. Gellert was beside her, his hair was a bit of a mess, but so was hers. She looked at him for a moment before carefully climbing out from under the duvet.

She headed to the kitchen to start making breakfast. She wasn’t sure what Gellert would eat, if he wanted to eat anything for breakfast. If he did want something to eat, it was probably best that he made it, since Cassie’s food was only tolerable for herself. Most people did not like her usual cooking.

Cassie put the plate in the sink, ready for her to clean later. She turned and jumped.
“Gellert!” she said, laughing. He was dressed already and leaned against the doorframe with a grin on his face.
“Good morning,” he said as he walked over to the dining table. “No breakfast?”
“Well, my cooking isn’t great, I thought you’d probably be better off making whatever you want yourself.” He hummed and then nodded as he moved to rummage through my cupboards to see what I had.

It didn’t take him long too cook breakfast. Cassie dressed herself as he did so, gathering her clothes from where they had been tossed the night before. When she left, he was eating the breakfast he had made himself. Omelettes. They smelled and looked wonderful.

“Do you want to try some?” he asked as she sat next to him. Cassie looked at the tempting food and slowly nodded. He passed her the fork with a piece of omelette on the end of it. She nibbled at it first, she had never tried omelettes since her mother had never liked them. Not able to decide if she liked it, she tried more.

“It’s nice,” she said eventually.
“You like it?” he asked, eyebrows raised. Cassie nodded.
“I do, and your cooking is far better than mine,” she said. He smiled and laughed as he took the fork back.
“I’ll have to make you some for breakfast next time.”

Next time.

Cassie smiled and nodded, glad that he wanted there to be a next time. She hadn’t expected it but she also hadn’t expected him to say yes to staying the night.
“When will the next time be?” she asked quietly. He finished eating and then paused.
“I don’t know.”
“Oh.”

Gellert set his knife and fork down and looked down at his plate.
“Next week? After the next meeting?” he suggested. My eyes widened and then I nodded, a smile spreading across my face as I did so. “I’ll have to bring some spare clothes with me then.”
“That might be useful, yes,” said Cassie. He smiled back as he picked the utensils back up.

After he finished eating, Gellert announced he would leave. Cassie nodded, even though she had hoped to spend more time with her.
“I’ll spend more time with you next week, alright?” he said as he stood near the front door.
She nodded. “Alright.”
“And I’ll have another present for you.”
“I’m guessing I get no hints?” she asked, curious. Gellert shook his head.
“None at all.”

He kissed her quickly as a goodbye.
“See you later, Cassie.” He smiled and she didn’t hesitate to smile back.
“See you later.”
