I sniffled in the backseat of my dad's truck, today was my 8th birthday. My parents were in the front seats, scowling at the road ahead of them. They said they were taking me to camp. I don't wanna sit with other kids for an entire month! Other kids aren't nice to me. My parents say it's because I don't shut up and my speech is annoying and my hand movements were weird. I stutter and stim when I'm excited is all....I didn't think it was that annoying."Are we there yet, Paul?" My mom groaned out, turning to look at her boyfriend, he's my dad but mama's never been married. "In a bit Barbara. We're only like 6 minutes away." I whimpered, shrinking in my seat, mama looked back out me and faked a sad tone, "What's wrong? Are you afraid that the kids will make fun of you?" She cooed and I nodded, earning a harsh snort from the woman. "Good." She turned back around and grabbed her can of beer, chugging the rest of it, slamming it down and picking at her teeth with her nail. "We'll need to pick up more beer on the way back." Dad just nodded and continued staring at the road.
When we got to the camp mama got out of the truck and I timidly hopped out as well, stumbling a little when I landed on the gravel. Mama walked over to me and shoved my plain suitcase and backpack into my hands. "Make sure they don't call us in case you need anything. I'm tired of your shit today already." I took a few steps back, feeling my eyes sting with tears. "I'll miss you mama." I said, she just turned around and walked away without saying anything, "I love you!" I yelled out, desperate for a response, she still stayed silent and climbed into the truck, which pulled out of the gravel, tires spinning for a second before it pulled away.
After the truck pulled away I sniffled, wiping my eyes with my arm, not wanting to seem weak to potential new friends. I turned around, facing the gigantic sign, which read 'Camp Crystal Lake'. I walked under it, a slight skip in my step, I saw two councilors kissing and grabbing at each other. Deciding the best chance of me finding out where I'd be staying was to ask them. I shuffled over to them and gently tugged on the guy's shirt since the girl had hers tucked into her red short shorts. "What the hell could you want?-" He pulled away from sucking her face and looked down at me, "Oh, it's just the new brat." I wasn't very surprised by his reaction to me, it wasn't much different with my dad. "Which cabin am I in sir?" He gestures over to a large cabin, then turned back to the girl, continuing what he was doing before I distracted them. I walked over to the large cabin.
I opened the screen door, smiling as I saw some older girls sitting on the floor playing truth or dare. They turned to me quickly when they heard the door shut, some smiled but most just turned again, ignoring me. I found an open bunk, most were bunk beds but since you were 2 days late to camp, you didn't get to sleep in one. All of the girls seemed to be super close to each other, I didn't wanna ruin that anyway. Setting down my suitcase and backpack, I walked over and sat down beside a red head, I was admittedly getting excited, I don't have any friends, now's my chance! "H-Hey, could I play with you guys?" Most shrugged their shoulders but a particular girl smiled and nodded, adding a, "I don't see why not!" My smile grew larger.
Eventually a girl asked you, "Okay, truth or dare?" "Um...truth." a few girls groaned, "Okay, what's your best friends name?" I tensed up, fiddling with my hands, "Heh...I actually don't have many friends..." The red head beside me whispered to the girl beside her, "I see why." This made the entire group erupt into giggles. Everyone except you. A brunette perked up, "I have another truth for you! Is it true you're the ugliest girl alive?" I felt my eyes sting again, "N-No, I'm not!" I replied, "N-No!" She mocked, "You didn't sound so sure!" She laughed and the rest joined in, all except 2 other girls, they were distracted painting each other's nails.
