R I Y A

"Second to the last." I groaned as I placed the second batch of papers on Mrs. Lei's desk.

I turned around and rested my butt cheeks on the table, trying to catch my breath. I had no idea that being his secretary could be so stressful and time-consuming. All of these documents are jam-packed with details about their various illegal activities; drug dealing, fraud, gambling, prostitution, and murder.

I shake my head as I remember the details of some of their horrendous crimes after reading these documents. They do not simply shoot people but put them to death through excruciating torture.

They are far worse than I imagined, but one man in particular scares me, Mr. Sanzu Haruchiyo.

I didn't expect him to be the most ruthless and have psychopathic traits among the group despite his upbeat demeanor. It says that he takes sadistic delight and notorious euphoria when executing traitors.

Well, what can I say? Bonten is well-known for its viciousness and bigotry towards traitors and informants. They are, without a doubt, the most heinous criminal organization in this country.

I sighed and looked around the room. I can't believe that after I spend years of studying for a degree, I'll end up working for a criminal organization. Specifically, as an executive's secretary, which disturbs me since I'm working against the government.

I walked out of the room and decided to return to Rindou's office. He is currently in a meeting with his co-executives, including the leader, Manjiro Sano. His name is quite familiar, and I'm sure I heard it somewhere before, but I couldn't remember much after all the events in life.

As I passed by my coworkers, they all fell silent and stared at me as if I were some sort of menace. After seeing me with Rindou earlier this morning, none of them bothered to interact with me. I suppose he warned them, or they're simply scared to the point where they don't want to get involved with me to avoid getting in trouble. Well, it's understandable since Rindou is a vile man with a high position in this organization.

I entered Rindou's office and collected the last batch of documents. I pick them up and walk back to Miss Lei's office with the loaded papers in my hands. After this, I'll finally have a break, as my feet are hurting from wearing stilettos.

I exhaled deeply as I dropped the stack of papers on the desk. "Finally!"

I was startled when the door suddenly shut behind me. I turn around to see Ran standing there, which surprised me.

"Ran.." I mumbled.

Wearing one of his exquisite suits, he looks dashing as always. What perplexes me is when my heart began to race the moment he flashed a smiled at me.

I leaned against the table as soon as he took a step closer to me.

"Hey."

"Hi." I replied, trying to form words amidst my incoherent thoughts.

He licked the inside of his cheek as he eyed me from head to toe.

"You're now working here, huh?" he asked, grinning at me.

"I- um, yeah. I asked Rindou if he'd let me look for a job since it's getting boring at the penthouse, and he said yes, but only as his secretary." I laughed awkwardly.

I bit my lower lip, feeling the forming tension around the room as soon as our gazes meet. He moved in closer until both of his hands were on the table on either side of me, caging me in his arms.

I gulped when I felt his hot breath fanning against my skin. I turned my head to the side, avoiding his stare.

"You- You should be in the meeting with them, right?" I stuttered.
