On one of December's freezing nights, a shinning light was born. She was born naturally delicate, feeble and infirm. She remembers everything said about her birth and It gave her nothing but anxiety.
As the sun rises, she woke up. Tears streaming down her cheeks. Pain rushing through every inch of her body. She couldn't tolerate her own heart. The screams she heard the moment she stepped inside her house. She couldn't call it ‘home’ simply because she never felt safe in it.
“I told you to shut the damn fuck up, Astra.” Shouted Aiden, fiercely.
“Stop doing this to me, to us, our children don't deserve this.” Astra replied in a fearful voice tone.
That's when he slapped her, she screamed. She put her hand on her red cheek and took a step back. Fear filled her eyes, her body feels it.
“You're just like an animal, Astra. You only listen when I beat the shit out of you,” he took a step towards her. He grabbed her by her shirt and lifted her up. “Look at you, pathetic and weak.” her body shivered, she surrendered.
“You're the pathetic one here, Aiden. You have always been. Using your powers over those weaker than you. That's your worth.” Astra uttered. Adrenaline rushed through Aiden's veins. He threw her on the floor aggressively.
“Dad?” Eleena called. “I've been ringing the doorbell for too long, all I'm hearing are screams. Is everything alright?”
He didn't hear the doorbell. Trepidation filled his eyes. He opened the door and left the living room.
Although Eleena was young, precisely around 10 years old. She wasn't stupid. She saw the red mark on her mom's cheek. She heard her scream. She saw her dad taking her mom to their bedroom where he continued hurting her. She knew everything, she saw everything, she heard everything. It hurt her. She always had that feeling that she was never secure.
She heard crying sounds. It must be Ayla; her sister. She ran as fast as her little legs could towards her room where she stayed with Ayla most of the time. And the moment she saw her, her heart broke into a million pieces. Eleena cried till her eyes got so dried out. She didn't know what to do. Ayla was crying loudly, their parents were fighting in the other room. . . she couldn't possibly do anything. She just sat there with Ayla on her lap, covering her ears and hugging her as tight as she ever could.
“it's okay.” Eleena whispered as she tapped her small back with her hand.
Eleena's body was trembling, she was filled with terror. She kept crying till she couldn't hear the screaming anymore, her eyes fell shut and so did Ayla's.
Who knows what she carries on her shoulders? Except for her eyes that during the day barely stayed open.
Who knows what her heart holds? Except for her eyes that keep her tears constantly flowing.
Who knows her sleeplessness more than the eyes she keeps during the nights wide open?
Who sees the crack in her smile? Like thousands of glasses just got broken.
Who knows how tired she is? Except for the words which remain inside forever unspoken.
