Screams that all I could hear as I watched my world burn. Where was my family? Were they already dead when I got there?

All I could think about is how the fire started. Was it on purpose, was it an accident? No one knew the correct answer. Could it have been prevented?

I couldn't comprehend how it had happened so fast. One second I was playing tag with the other kids. Next there were flames rising. Everything was collapsing around me and I could do nothing.

I swear I will avenge them.

I woke up with a start. That nightmare always comes back. When I sat up I realized I was crying in my sleep. Gods I hope no one saw that.

What was I doing today? Ah, yes my unit is being sent out to help the 6th Harbinger.

The past. Why was I always stuck in that moment? Why didn't I rush to help?

No. It wasn't my fault. I was only five. I couldn't have helped anyone with my small hands. I was just a mere child watching their world crumble in front of their eyes.

I shake off the feelings, I no longer have time to dwell in my past. I only have the time to move forward before my life ends completely in this needless war. I can remember them another time.

A sigh leaves my mouth as I sit up. The large tent is void of any others. I roll of the small cot. They were always uncomfortable, they make all the recruits hurt. I don't really mind it. My eyes travel around the tent as I spot my uniform. My body hurts from sparring yesterday, but I continue getting up stretching to feel some what better than before.

After I put the uniform on I tack on the badge. Recruit's insignia, what an laughable rank. I grab my staff. Today is going to be a long day. A chuckle leaves my throat. I must be so pathetic to stoop as low as what I want to prevent.
