There was a girl who got pregnant in our senior year of highschool. I really liked her. Even after hearing the news and even after she dropped out of school I was still thinking about her.
She was really short, around 5'3. She had a birth mark shaped like a star on her forehead. Her skin was tanned but not an orange tan like everybody else, more like a brown tan, that became golden when you stood in the sun. She had beautiful brunette eyes and she had that sleep deprived look on her face even when she laughed. She had the whole soft girl aesthetic going . She had a petite chubby like body(if that makes sense). I just liked her talkative energy so much.
It was really sad though, what happened to her. She was a virgin and everyone knew it like that. Then all of a sudden a baby.
She was made fun of for two months before she left.
I still thought of her even after graduation. I wondered if I'd ever meet her again. And it was just my luck. Four months after finishing collage, there she was, sitting in Wendy's. She got a whole lot prettier. It was really nice to just look at her.
As I was about to pass by and move on with my day, a little girl bumped into me. She looked extremely scared. I asked what was wrong and she said there was a monster lurking behind the store. I asked where her mom was and she grabbed my hand and pulled me into Wendy's.
I was extremely nervous. The little girl was hers. I was planning to avoid her and pretend I never saw her, but I guess fate had other plans.
"Lara, where have you been?" She asked in a pretty tone. She looked up and gave me a long stare before smiling.
"Do I know you from somewhere?" She tilted her head a bit trying to figure out where she's seen me.
"Oh um...Hi...Jane.It's me...um, Tim or as you guys knew me, Timmy from high-school" I muttered.
"Yeah. Timmy. You sat behind me in chemistry" She said with a beautiful glow in her eyes.
"Yeah. Um...your daughter, she's beautiful"
"Thank you" She smiled and looked back at me.
"Don't you wanna sit down?" She asked.
"Ummm...I gotta get somewhere...I'm kind of..."
"Oh no, it'll only be a few minutes. I just want to say thank you." She interrupted.
She moved up the little booth to give me space to sit next to her whilst her daughter suddenly grabbed her phone and started playing candy crush.
"Um...how have you been or should I say where have you been?" I asked in an awkward tone. She tilted her head to stare directly at the side of my face. Her stare was burning right through me.
"Timmy, you know you're still as adorable as you were in highschool"she said in a bubbly tone.
"Me?" I turned red. I couldn't believe I was 23 and I couldn't even hide how nervous I was.
"Yes,you. You were a really great guy. Actually you still are. And I can tell by the way you let my daughter lead you back here that you still are."
"Thank you. You're still as beautiful as you were in highschool actually even better than highschool." I placed both my hands over my mouth after realizing what I had said.
"Thank you. I wish he genuinely thought that too" she let out a weak laugh and suddenly her face went a little dark. It was then that I knew who she was talking about.
"You didn't deserve any of it. He didn't deserve you." I placed my hand on her shoulder.
" You know. I knew he wasn't for me. He just convinced me he was. I wish I followed my gut back then and not my heart. But at least I can say Lara is the best thing that's happened to me."
"You're right. Lara takes after you. And it is kind of cool to have a mini you around."
Jane laughed. Her laugh was bold and beautiful. It made my heart race.
"So Timmy, you have a girlfriend?" Her question caught me completely by surprise.
"No. I don't think I ever will. I'm still the same old guy from highschool, just taller and with a better jawline...even um...maybe better fashion sense. But still Timothy."
"Come on, alot of women like men like you"
"I'm boring Jane. Women love excitement whether it be violent, explicit or full of romance. I'm just not the guy for relationships and I realized that years ago."
"But you're funny and sweet"
"You think I'm funny?"
"Yes."
I smiled at her. I didn't know why but it was nice to hear that she thought I was funny.
"Well. You're the only one who thinks that so..."
"So what?"
"It's really just you who thinks I'm funny...and sweet...and even adorable. It's just you who thinks I'm a great guy. This is actually the first time in my life that any woman has complimented me this much. Even my mother never said much about me."I explained.
"Well. I won't stop complimenting you. You deserve it."
"Miss me on the compliments, you deserve them more than I ever will. I bet you're boyfriend compliments you everyday."
"I don't have a boyfriend actually. No one wants to be in a relationship with a woman that has a kid."
"I wouldn't mind"
The air between us got heavy. The atmosphere suddenly became warmer. And we couldn't stop staring at each other.
"You...you wouldn't mind?"She asked awkwardly.
"I...yeah. I mean...if the woman would even let a boring guy like me in her child's life or even in her life then I'd take it."
"Timmy"
"Yeah"
"I gotta get going."
"Oh...um...sure." I stood up from where I was sitting making way for her to exit the booth and I helped Lara exit the booth too.
"It was good talking to you." She said.
"Um but...before...you...can you...I mean..."
Jane motioned to my cellphone and immediately signaled for me to go to my number pad.
"555-482-9844." She said with a smile on here face.
"Thank you"
"See you around Timmy" Her and Lara walked out of Wendy's.
I looked at the number on my cellphone and I couldn't believe it. It was hers. She actually gave it to me. I actually spoke to her. I made her laugh. And...I was going to see her and Lara again.
I can't wait for her to be mine.
