LaylaI was sitting on the bleachers, in the football pitch, eating my lunch.
I didn't have anywhere else to go after rushing out of the cafeteria, feeling so uneasy.
How could he ask me out? I hadn't even spent a full day in school yet. I couldn't believe it.
Even if I did believe it, I wasn't ready for that sort of relationship, not after Cole broke my heart. I didn't have it in me to love someone else again. Not now. Maybe even never.I sighed, my mind unwantedly drifting to the past, until a voice snapped me back to reality.
"Hey new girl" I looked up and saw two blonde girls standing in front of me in cheerleading uniforms.
"I'm Hayley" the first one spoke. She had a lighter blonde hair than the other and her face was fully made up, with her shinny red lipstick catching my eye.
"And she's Chloe" she introduced the girl next to her who had just as much make up on her face. They were both pretty though."You look pretty and you have a nice body" Hayley caught me off guard with her compliment. I didn't know whether to find that creepy or appealing.
"Thanks" I said unsure.
"You should join the cheerleading team, I'm the leader and I can make you a member right now without even auditioning" she said with so much confidence and authority, like a spoilt princess who always got what she wanted.
"Just because you're pretty" she added, further creeping me out.
"I'm sorry, I don't think so" I politely declined. "I just wanna stay on the low for now, I just got here" I explained.
She narrowed her eyes at me for a brief second before saying, "whatever, your loss". She then walked away with her friend, leaving me alone once again.

After school was over, I got back home and slumped on my bed. My father hadn't returned from work yet. There were still boxes littered around the house that needed to be arranged, so instead of just sitting idle and drifting into sad thoughts and memories, I decided to arrange all the boxes.
It took me over an hour to put everything in place. After which I noticed a small box on my shelf. I opened it and found a picture frame of Cole, Krystal and I. The pain I was trying to avoid came flooding my mind.
I stared at the picture with pain in my heart, wondering how much of a fool I was loving him. How could he hurt me like that. The next second, I threw the frame against the wall and it shattered to pieces. Silent tears rolled down my cheeks but I immediately wiped them off.
I picked up the pieces of the picture together with the box of other pictures and carried them outside to dump them in the trash. I didn't need any stupid pictures reminding me of him. After disposing them, I noticed it was already dark. Seeming that my dad wasn't back, I decided to take a stroll to clear my head.
when I reached the woods, I paused and looked at it. After what happened the previous day, I was supposed to stay the hell away from this woods but I found myself walking into it. I made my way to the tree stump, a little frightened of what I may see but still, that didn't make me turn around.
Just as I feared, the big wolf was there again and the moment it turned around to look at me, my whole body paralyzed. Once again, my heart was racing but unlike the previous day, I chose to not run. Instead, my dream flashed before me.
What was it with this wolf?
Why did I dream about you? I thought as I watched it with utmost curiosity. And then just like in my dream, I walked towards it the moment it sat down. My head was screaming that this was crazy but my feet kept moving until I reached it and crouched down beside it.
I couldn't help but admire it, much so that, I put my hand on the side and started petting it like it was some puppy. The wolf purred, shutting its eyes as I kept caressing it.
I couldn't believe what I was doing.
I thought wolves were dangerous, ruthless animals but why was this one so calm. Or was it pretending to be just so it could eat me later? That was supposed to scare me off but it still didn't.
"Why are you here?" I couldn't help but ask the wolf, still caressing its fur covered skin. It felt so relieving.
"Are you someone's pet? Have you run away from your owners? I continued asking. Then I shook my head.
Stupid me. It wasn't like it could answer me.
Just then, my phone vibrated from my pocket. When I pulled it out, I saw my dad's name of the screen.
"Its my dad, he's probably looking for me" I said to the wolf and stood up. I heard it groan at the loss of contact.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow if you happen to come around again" I smiled and caressed the head one last time. With that I turned around and left.

The next day at school, I was at my locker gathering my stuff for my first class and when I closed my locker, I was startled as two girls stood there smiling at me. Unlike Hayley and Chloe that had full makeup on their faces, they looked almost natural and beautiful."Layla right?" The one with dark hair asked, smiling really brightly.
"Yeah" I simply answered.
"I'm Asley" she introduced.
"I'm Gia" the second girl with brown hair introduced herself as well.
I smiled at them, "let me guess, you have come to convince me to join the cheerleading team" I asked.
"I have no idea what you talking about" Ashley replied.
"Oh" I guessed wrong.
"Since you're new here, feel free to tag along with us. We don't bite" Ashley offered and her friend Gia snickered beside her.
"Actually we do bite" Gia told Ashley and they both shared a laugh, like it was some inside joke or something.
"Ignore her" Ashley turned her attention back to me. "We could tell you everything you need to know about Bradhills high"
"That's very generous of you" I said in all honesty.
"Actually its nothing, we love making new friends" Ashley smiled again. "So see you at lunch"
"Don't forget to sit with us" Gia added with a smile before they both walked away.
I found it rather weird that since the past 24 hours, I've met people who wanted to be associated with me. It was pleasing, as it was also scary.
I shrugged and went to my first class.
