Chapter Twelve
Parker's POV
I watched her storm out of my view and into the safety of the walls separating us. I sighed heavily sitting down on the couch, running my fingers through my bed hair. I'd calmed down a bit after she pushed me away. She cracked me from my outburst; I didn't mean to snap at Eleanor. The subject with my father was a sensitive one. I wasn't ready to tell her, but I guess that didn't give me a reason to yell at her.
"Aghh!" I growled out in frustration pulling my hair in the process. Just when she and I were getting along, I had to do something to ruin it. Way to go Parker. I bitterly thought. I still had my head in my hands when a tiny hand touched my shoulder.
I looked up to see a curious Luke standing just beside me on the couch. "Parker alright?"
With an attempt at a smile for the small blighter, I said, "Don't worry about me bud. You still haven't dressed?" I referred to his matching helicopter pajamas that were wrinkled from his night of sleep.
"Momma still don't tell me shower," he replied innocently sitting down right beside me. Since he was still a short one, his feet didn't touch the ground anymore when he leaned back in the couch. He was playing with the toy car I got him, rolling it around on the couch.
"Where's Peyton?" I asked trying to make a conversation with the little one. It was still a bit of an hassle for me to get comfortable around them so easily.
"With his books," he replied distractedly going to the back of the couch with his car. I watched him bend over with his head looking out into the clear windows. "Can I go swim?"
"It's pretty chilly out there, bud."
"Pleaseeeeeeeee," he begged looking at me.
"Sorry no can do," I chuckled patting his back sympathetically.
"Life is so fair!" He shouted out angrily crossing his tiny arms in front of his chest.
"Life isn't fair, my angel." I turned my head to see Eleanor walking over to us, not making any eye contact with me. "That's how the saying goes."
"Momma! Parker not let me swim," Luke scrambled off the couch and walked over to his mother.
All this time I had been trying to catch my wife's attention to no avail. She briefly looked at me for a millisecond thinking I wasn't looking at her before answering her son. "Parker won't do lots of things." If she was trying to be sly, it didn't work. I caught the double meaning in what she said.
"Eleanor I-"
"Time for a shower, sweetheart!" Eleanor exclaimed, purposely cutting me off picking Luke up.
"Bye Parker!" Luke waved to me over his mom's shoulders as I watched them go down the stairs. I gave him a wave and sat back down on the couch sighing. Oh I always knew that Eleanor could be hard to get through.
All day long, Eleanor ignored me. Somehow, she found a way to avoid me by coming up with an excuse. I admit, I was getting pretty frustrated. She wouldn't give me a chance to start my apology and explain to her. I was afraid that whatever happened between us last night, and our mutual understanding would be gone in a flash.
I was currently in my newly renovated office at the house fixing some papers for the company, since I had nothing better to do anyways. Eleanor took her kids away from me, not wanting us to be near each other. Slipping on my jacket, I stood up and was about to leave the office when my personal cell phone rang. I slipped it out of my pocket answering it with a swift greeting.
