Chapter Thirty-Four

Eleanor's POV

I woke up the next morning to someone lightly touching my stomach. My eyes flew open and met Parker's smiling ones whose head was very close to mine. Then I suddenly remembered everything that happened yesterday. I wanted to cry out of sadness but also cry of happiness at the same time. Parker must have caught my expression.

"Hey, hey what's wrong?" He asked running a finger down the side of my face. "Are you feeling any morning sicknesses? Should I take you to the doctor?"

I laughed instead and tried sitting up higher in bed. "No, no I'm fine. Really." I added since he still looked unsure. "Where are Luke and Peyton?"

He nodded his head out in the living room. "Watching TV."

"Did Peyton already take the vitamins the doctor prescribed? How is he? Is he feeling tired? Is he hot? Parker, maybe he should sleep some more."

He chuckled and forced me to lay back down on the mountain of pillows. I propped up against them looking at my husband. My husband who was finally here with me.

"He's fine for now," Parker assured me taking my hand in his. "It's actually noon. You've slept for a long time."

My eyebrows furrowed trying to get a glimpse of the clock that was hidden by Parker. "Really?"

He nodded, and I felt his other hand trailing its way across my arm and to my stomach, under my shirt. He caressed it with a fascinating look on his face. So that's what he was doing earlier.

I let out a smile just watching how happy he gets. I placed my free hand over his roaming one on my stomach and squeezed it. "It's amazing isn't it? How a baby is inside me right now."

"Very amazing," he murmured dropping a kiss on my forehead.

"Do you think that maybe this is too early for us?" I asked not looking him in the eye.

"What do you mean?"

"Like... We just got back together after this huge blow out we had. Plus there are so many things going on with Peyton's possible cancer-" My throat tightened as I mentioned it. "And there's Heidi with... you know. God, I don't know how it got so complicated."

"There's nothing that I wouldn't do just to make you happy," he said kissing my lips lightly. He pulled back reaching over to the side table and handed me two packets of saltine crackers. "Here. Eat this. It should lessen your morning sicknesses."

I gave him an amused glance sitting up in bed ripping the crackers open. "And how would you know that, Mr. Jenkins?"

He shrugged shooting me a grin. "I researched on line just a few minutes ago."

My heart warmed at the thought. "Well that's really thoughtful of you. Thank you." I granted him with a peck on the lips and devoured the crackers in less than a minute. Then I swung out of bed, stretching my arms out in the air when a thought occurred to me. "Aren't you supposed to be at work?"

He nodded sheepishly. "Sort of, but I'm sure the office could go on a day without me."

I walked over to his side where we began to fall in step with each other out the door. "Isn't today the twenty-first of January? Don't you have that business deal to attend somewhere in northern England?"

He looked shocked. "How did you know about that?"

"I remembered," I said a bit embarrassed. "I heard you and your father talking about it on New Year's."
