An ocean of voices crashed down upon the capital city of Alteior. Tonight was the annual lantern lighting festival. The people of the city did it as tribute to the new daughter just born of the Royal family.

A young adolescent youth with platinum blonde hair and emerald green eyes stood in the center of all the hustle and bustle. A long pointed spear was strapped downward on her back. Her arms were etched with strength from hours of training and her eyes were so intense and fierce, like that of a wild animal. "So, this is the capital?" She whispered to herself.

She glanced around at all the various tables of merchandise, beautiful works of art and tables filled with the most delicious scents to ever fill her nostrils.

A man screaming in chainmail and a bright red tunic draped over his shoulders. A golden insignia of a griffin was imprinted on his chest proudly."Come sign up and bring valor and honor to your Kingdom!" A line of men both young and old stood in front of his table signing documents.

The girl made her way in front of the imperial officer. Determination was painted across her face. "I'm here to 'bring valor and honor' to my country"

The officer busted out laughing with no regard for the girl. "You're only a child and a woman at that. Haha maybe you want to marry one of the young lads?" The men in line started to mock her without a hint of sympathy.

She silently peeled the strap of her spear casing off her back. "There are no laws regarding gender, that would possibly prohibit anyone from joining to serve." She calmly placed her spear down on the ground with a flat tone in her voice.

The military officer stifled his composure. "It's just not done! Nor is it natural young lady!" He was visually getting uncomfortable by the entire situation realizing the girl wasn't playing any kinds of tricks.

"On your way now, or I'll have you removed!" His voice strained with anxiety as people began to whisper about.

A mans voice crashed through the air like a rock through a window. "Let her fill out the application." Another young gentleman was walking towards the table. Plated armor decorated his muscular frame, and a brilliant purple cloak hung from his shoulders.

Every person in the surrounding area took three steps back clearing a path. "It's the crown Prince..." young woman giggled and gossiped. The officers face was twisted in confusion "But your Highness! She's a wo-"

"Silence, captain. Did I not just order you to let this woman sign the application?" His tone flashed dangerously like lightning. "Now do ask I ask or I'll have you removed and your title stripped for incompetency"

The officer dared not utter another word. He placed a paper and quill with ink down in front of the girl. His science spoke loud in objection to the Prince.

The girl didn't hesitate, she quickly grabbed it in her fingers as if it would disappear.
