A guy and girl grew apart, he didn’t know why. Eventually the love wasn’t there, she completely ghosted him and he hadn’t seen here for months. He knew not what to do as the pain ate at him, struggling to move on, wishing they could be together, or at least get some closure, but she disappeared, never to be seen again. Not sure if that was even a good thing, or a bad thing. That was until he was sitting at the mall, finishing his Sbarro’s.
“Umm… hey… long time no see,” she looked ready to run away from him.
“Ash? What are you doing here, I thought you were gone.”
“I uh, been here the whole time, different people, different circles,” she chuckled, “I just came here for some shopping, and saw you sitting here, Darry.”
“Okay, you seen me,” his voice was bereft of emotion, trying to keep composure.
“Are you okay, how’ve you been,” she sat.
“It’s been shitty, Ash. Shitty. All this time, what you did to me. I’ve been lost, I won’t lie.”
“Did I really hurt you that bad,” she reached for him.
“Don’t touch me. Of course you did. All last summer, incase you don’t recall; I was yours, and you were mine.”
“I figured you’d just forget it all.”
“How could I forget what we had together? I thought we were really in love, but I guess it was just me.”
“I was in love with you, I probably still have your love notes somewhere.
“Is there a line that I could write, that’s sad enough to make you cry? So you could maybe understand how I feel.”
“Why would you do that, do you not still have my notes and letters?”
“Yeah. And all the lines you wrote to me were lies. I wanted to throw them away, because of the pain, but even through that, the memories I like… even if they’re now bittersweet,” he finished his Stromboli.
She sat there quiet for a moment, watching him eat, not knowing what to say, if there was anything she could. He glances at her, not moving his head.
“You really hurt me, Ash. I really loved you, I thought I was doing every thing right. You coulda told me if there was a problem, I’d have tried to fix it. What did I do wrong, Ash?”
“I don’t know. I don’t think you did anything wrong.”
“Then what was it, tell me. Why did you leave me the way you did, why’d you get so distant?”
“I guess I kinda got bored,” she shrugged, “I can’t explain it. Maybe I thought I saw somebody better, somebody who… was like, I thought was something else, something more than you.”
“You could’ve at least just broke up with me and told me.”
“And deal with this?”
“I’d have been hurt, but at least I woulda been able to move on, eventually. Not just lost, wondering what happened and why. You just up and threw me out like garbage.”
“I know. I know.”
“Do you? Can you see how I feel, are you still with him?”
“Dar, I get it.”
“Months roll past, the love that you struck dead. Did you love me only in my head?”
“No! I really did love you, I promise. I was just stupid, okay. I thought it would be fine, I’d just move on and things would be okay. I liked the guy, I fucked up, he was something different and I thought he was better than you.”
