Y/n's POV:
Pietro ushered us inside their mansion leaving other the guests to welcome themselves in, he politely introduced me and Natasha to his family.

Iryna and Olek are very cordial, welcoming us with such humbleness, making me think to myself that this gathering is not half as bad as I  ought it to be, and her twin sister whom I know to be Wanda, a woman who is a perfect mixture of elegance and tenderness with her hair almost the color of Natasha's with striking features making all the heads in the room turn to her direction with every step she takes approached us and effectively stole Natasha from me which brought some unpleasant feelings in my chest that I can't quite understand.

I watched as the two women talk among themselves, as they settle on a corner after Wanda took Natasha for a tour around the house, drinking, talking about whatnot, and getting along quite really well, too well for my liking though.

Naturally, I'd want Natasha  to have friends as
she is new in town and perhaps having someone to talk to other than me might fill the longing for her sister but I also want to keep her all to myself.

Wanda whispered something to the redhead that made her turn to me only to find that I was already staring at her, she lifted her glass in acknowledgment and flashed a lovely smile, I dipped my head a little in return before giving Pietro my full attention who was oblivious of my disinterest in whatever he's talking about, tho I picked up a few phrases, he's starting a law firm and will possibly be partnering up with my father.

"Won't it be wonderful, The Y/l/ns and Maximoffs as one" he then added,  "Sir Arthur being the most influential and might I say the best lawyer,  in Amherst, per hearsay, will help me with everything I need to learn then we will build an empire together, what do you say?"

"I say... Let's have a drink, I don't really mingle with my father's work as I spend my time in my studio" sarcasm seeping through every syllable that I spit out of my mouth making it even more obvious that I have no interest in what he's talking about

"Right, of course, I just figured you'd be inquisitive with this since you'll play a major role in making this possible" the mention of me having partition in this caught my attention, I have an idea by what he meant but I still want to get more information from him so I asked

"Me, how come? I don't recall my father telling me anything" I pressed on but his answer had me in vain

"Oh, uh, well I guess that is a conversation you need to have with Sir Arthur" was all he uttered before taking a sip of his drink as if physically stopping himself from giving me more.

He then set his glass down on the table in front of us and politely asked me to dance with him which I agreed to with no reluctance, Pietro guided me to the middle of the room and briefly let go of my hand to bow and I curtsied in return. His delicate hand fixated gently on my waist while the other grips mine as we sway around, his affectionate eyes never leaving mine and his charming smile never faltering, and at that moment I feel as though we were the only ones in the room, we danced to every beat of the music the band plays having the time of our lives.

Is it possible to feel such things for someone I just met, someone that I have little knowledge about, but in Pietro's presence all I feel is security as if a safety blanket is draped all over my body keeping me warm in such a cold night.  All through the event he never left my side his gentleness did one bit never wavered removing the inkling feeling in me that him being a gentleman is just a facade.

I was too indulged in Pietro that I forgot about Natasha, as I searched the crowd for the redhead my eyes landed upon a man who I might say I have no intention of bumping into this evening on this occasion where alcohol and people mingling is involved especially that Natasha is here as well.

He's there in the middle of the dance floor with his hands firmly holding a woman in place, hold on a minute, Is that?

"Natasha?" I muttered under my breath unaware that Pietro heard it

"It seems like your friend is enjoying herself as well" I continued to watch them twirl around mostly seeing if Bruce will pull up some sort of trick or to see if Natasha is truly enjoying herself as Pietro implied

"No, I don't think so"

Bruce slid his arms further down on Natasha's body and I can see her stiffened discreetly pushing the man away as to not start a commotion but I was about to leave and intervene Pietro was already there trying his best in separating the two but with Bruce under the influence of alcohol the silvered hair boy was in no luck, Bruce pushed Pietro out of his way making him land on his bum on the floor and began to drag Natasha away with a strong grip on her arm by this point people are already looking as the sound of Natasha stumbling over her feet and whimpers about how much pain she was in under the man's hand.

I strode to them, Pietro got on his feet grabbed Bruce by his vest, and delivered a strong punch across his face making him stumble back while I was just in time to catch Natasha who clung onto me for her dear life and Wanda was quick to usher us out of the area upstairs to I assume her sleeping chamber, downstairs we can hear Bruce shouting after Natasha making the girl in my arms flinch at the sound of his voice.

She tightens her embrace and buried her face on my neck while Wanda sat down with us on her bed stroking out Natasha's hair for comfort as the redhead started to cry

"You're safe now, he's gone, he can't get to you now." I talked in a hushed tone to not startle her which seems to be working

Silence fell into the room with only Natasha's broken sobs and sniffles filling  our ears, Wanda, on the other hand, is shifting a lot on her seat as she fumbles with her dress with her lower lips trapped between her teeth

"Wanda..." I called out and she looked up at me with glistening eyes then looked back down at her hands

"It's not your fault, we don't blame you, -"

"It is my fault Y/n, if only I didn't leave Natasha's side then Bruce wouldn't have got to her, we've been avoiding him all night since Natasha feels uncomfortable with him in the same room"

"So you've seen him all night and you didn't come to me?" The question was mostly directed at the redhead on my arms who snapped her head up upon hearing my inquiry

The annoyance I felt was shortly replaced with sadness the moment I saw Natasha's tear-stained face

"I'm sorry...I just-... You were having a good time with Pietro and I don't want to ruin that so I told Wanda to just avoid him instead of telling you" she explained in between sniffles and hiccups while her hand was held by Wanda

A knock on the door interrupted our little chatter and Wanda got up to see who it was, Pietro then got inside informing us that the situation is being taken care of and a sigh of relief escape Natasha's lips, We went downstairs, collected our coat and bonnets to get ourselves home.

"Thank you again for what you did there," I said to Pietro as I said my farewell and hugged him and his sister.
The Maximoff's walked us out with Iryna and Olek's none stop apology for what happened tho we assured them that it was no one's fault.
We bid our goodbyes and gratitude to them before getting on our carriage.

The ride home wasn't that long but it still managed to knock Natasha out with her head leaning on my shoulder and her hand on my lap.

"No one will ever hurt you, not on my watch" I whispered as I leaned my head on top of hers and heard her hum in delight and shift closer to me.
