It's been almost a week since thanksgiving. A week since I haven't talked to my Mer because I got grounded because I dumped a bucket of water on my cousin. A week since I got sick because my cousin dumped a bucket of water and didn't get to see her in school either. Great, right? So fucking great!! It wasn't even my fault.

But not being able to talk to her for a week made me realize it's not just a crush anymore. It's something more than a crush. May be I like her, a little too much.

I eagerly turned on my phone and ignored all the texts and hit the call button. I hope she picks up. I want to hear her beautiful voice. In second ring she finally picked up.

"Hey!" Her voice sounded a little sad.

"Are you okay?"

"Oh my gosh. Are you okay? What happened to your voice?"

"I was just a little sick! And I'm so sorry I couldn't text you, I got grounded"

"First time I hear your voice and it's not your voice!" She chuckled a little.

"Hey are you okay?"

"I am! Actually I wanted to ask you something"

"Wha-?"

"Nevermind. I think I got it"

"You should've never mentioned it, now I'm curious. Ask me!"

"It's nothing!"

"Come on I know it's not nothing. You can't leave me hanging like that!"

"Fine but answer honestly okay?"

"Yeah!"

"Are you- I mean it totally okay if you are but like are you embarrassed of me?" Her voice hitched a little when she said it, almost crying.

"Why would you-?"

"Haha it was just a stupid question. I need to go. Hang up. Bye!"

"Wait! Let me finish. I'm not embarrassed of you ok. Never ever think that. Whoever filled that in your mind, give them a sucker punch from me."

"Then why would you not tell me who you are? I mean there's no other reason, right?" I sighed. This girl!!

"Mer, I'm scared okay! I'm scared that you won't like me. I would be flattered to be seen with you, hold your hands and call you mine!"

"C- call me yours?"

"I really like you Merida and I promise we'll be going to prom together. Only if you agree that is!"

"That's a long time. I want to see you! It's only fair. It's kind of creepy when you know everything about me and I know nothing you know!" I laughed nervously.

I knew she would say this, but I don't think she would talk to me if she knew I was Max.

"Well stranger, I'll tell you when you're ready yeah?"

"Yeah...." There was a sadness in her voice which I felt like daggers. I was about to reassure her when I accidentally opened one of my text.

Yo you missed so much. Jack got that Merida girl so gooood!

What???

"What did Jack do to you?"

Silence! Utter silence!

"He told you those things? He made you doubt yourself?"

"I-"

"THAT SON OF A BITCH IS GOING DOWN!!"

"Hey-"

"No mom I said pitch you know P-i-t-c-h."

"..."

"Yeah no! Ugh. Listen don't be sad I need to go now but we'll talk later yeah?"

"Yeah!"
