Chapter 3. Surprises

I opened my eyes slowly, realizing that I had fallen asleep. Tyler's arms were still around me, and the warmth that radiated off of him was comforting. Alexis had gone, and left a note. I knew Tyler was still awake, because when I had woken up he had felt me stir and landed a kiss on my forehead. We sat in a comfortable silence before Tyler finally spoke. "Are you okay Sum?" He said quietly.
"Yeah, I guess I feel better," I replied weakly.
I started to get up, moving around to gaze at Tyler. "Noooo don't get up,"
"I'm not Ty, I'm just moving around." I chuckled.

His arms weren't around me anymore, but when he had noticed that he stiffened, then put his arms around my waist again. I looked up at him, trying to read his face. His jet black hair was messy, and you could tell that he had been sleeping. His hazel eyes were mysterious and hard to read, but I could see a hint of worry in his eyes.

He isn't like Blake, who probably just became the hottest guy in school in the period of three hours. To be honest, Tyler used to be the hottest guy in school, before he became friends with Alexis and I, and we aren't the cool kids. We aren't invisible, not completely, but we aren't popular either. It's weird to think that Ty would want to give that up to be our friends. Tyler was (don't tell him I said this) gorgeous with his mysterious black hair, styled perfectly. And his hazel eyes, always sparkling. He was kind, and smart. (He's overprotective too, not too much though)

"Are you checking me out?"
The blood rushed to my cheeks as soon as he said that, and I tried to hide my cheeks but there was no use. "I uh..n-no," I replied nervously. He saw my cheeks heat up and chuckled.
"Only you Sum, only you."
I smacked his arm. "Your mean,"
"How?"
"I dunno,"
I laid my head back against his shoulder, laughing along with Tyler.
~.~.~.~.~
The door opened, revealing Mom.
"Summer, I'm ho-."
She took one look at me and Tyler on the couch, then my swollen cheek, and ran to me.

We fell into this routine, and when Dad would hurt me, Tyler would come over sometimes even Alexis, and when Mom got home she saw me and Tyler, then looked to see where he hit me, and she would run to me and ask what happened.

"Summer what happened?" She grabbed my face in her hands, while Tyler was telling her the story. When he had finished, she let out a sigh. Mom never calls the police, because she fears that he will hurt me even more. Dad doesn't hurt Mom, only me. None of us know why either.

Mom got up and picked up the frozen peas. She went to the kitchen, putting the peas in the freezer and telling me, "You need to ice your cheek before you go to bed,"
I mumbled a reply.
"Would you like to stay for dinner Tyler?" She asked.
"That would be great Mom," Tyler said. He calls her that because she is like his second mother, he's over all the time.
"Can I speak to you for a minute Mom? Ty added.
"Yeah sure, Summer I suggest you go clean up,"

I untangle myself from Tyler's arms and walk to my room. Once I'm in the bathroom, I look at my mirror. I look..like I could be in a horror movie. After I'm done cleaning up, I sit on my bed and check my phone. Nope, nothing.
Tyler walks in my room with a confident smile on his face. He sits down beside me.

"I HAVE GREAT NEWS SUM," He screams.
"Whoa whoa, Ty calm your cupcakes."

"So, I told your mom that this place was unfit to stay, because your dad would come back and I don't want him to hurt you again, and I asked her if you two could stay at my place until you guys got a new house. I mean, I didn't tell everyone yet because I wanted to ask you first, but WANT TO SUM?? WANT TOOOO?" He says quickly, ignoring my remark.

My head spins, drinking in all the information. Living with Tyler? I don't know how long we would stay, but it would be a nice place to stay without Dad breathing down my neck and creating scars all the time.
"Ty, I don't know. Do you have room? I don't want to flood your house and stuff."
"We have a guest room Sum, your mom could stay in that,"
"But where would I stay?"

"With me. We don't have another room and of course, there is only one bed in there. Please please PLEASEEE Sum? It would make me happy to know your safe," Tyler says, breaking out the puppy dog eyes.

"Fine."
"YEEEESSSSSS," He screams, jumping on me and giving me a bone crushing hug.
Tyler runs into the living room, telling Mom what I'd said. I could hear his excitement oozing through the walls.

I walk into the living room, seeing Ty jumping around the house. He sees me and says, "Pack your stuff girl, your leaving tomorrow after school to come to MEEEEEEEEE!!!!" I burst into laughter, falling on the floor.

We all three hear a ringtone.
~THE KRUSTY KRAB PIZZA IS DA PIZZA FOR YOU AND MEEE~
"Uh, that's me.." Tyler says, picking up his phone.

"Ma? Yeah, I'm at Summer's. I have something to tell you when I get home. Is that guest room still empty? Great, okay. Love you mom." He says.

"Bye Tyler, we will see you tomorrow," Mom says, going into her room.

"Bye Mom, Bye Sum, cya tomorrow," Tyler says with a wink.

I run up to him, hugging him. I lick his nose quickly then run away into my room. It's a thing I do, and sometimes I live after I do it.

I can hear his scream, then his laugh as he leaves.
~.~.~.~.~
The sunlight streams through my window, and I'm already up, because I couldn't sleep last night from excitement.

I'm wearing a red flannel shirt, and black skinny jeans with my converse. I guess I look like Michael Clifford.
I had packed my stuff last night, grabbing everything from my room.

As I'm running out the door, off to school, I see Blake. He notices me, and runs up.
"Hey, how are you?" He asks.
"Great, you?"
"My day could have started off better. I left my biology textbook in my locker so I'm gonna fail the test pretty much,"
"Oh, you'll do fine."
We entered the school, and we split off in different directions. Alexis is screaming bloody murder when I come up to her.
"AHHHHH!?!?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN TYLER?!?!?!? NO FRICKIN WAY!!!"
"Whoa girl, what's up?" I said, coming up behind her.
"YOU DIDNT TELL ME YOU WERE MOVING IN WITH TYLER,"
"Yeah, it's not that big of a deal," I said.
"IT IS. I KNEW YOU GUYS WERE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER BUT THIS RELATIONSHIP IS GOING WAY TOO FAST."
My cheeks erupted into flames. "Calm down, Alex. It's just temporary. Where's Ty?"
She moves to the side, revealing a red cheeked Tyler. "Hiiii!" He says enthusiastically.
"Hey there, are you guys ready for class?" I say, right when the bell rings.
~.~.~.~.~.~
"Bye guys, I'll see you tomorrow," Alexis calls to us.
We say our goodbyes, and Tyler and I set off for his house. Mom is gonna meet us at his house, and she has our stuff.

"Sum I'm so happyyyy,"

"I know Ty, I'm glad I'm away from Dad too," I say.

Tyler grabs my hand, intertwining our fingers together. "I'm just glad your safe, I'm gonna kill him one day."

I chuckle, swinging our hands as we approach his house.
