LUCAS
I barely had time to finish eating the ramen I'd just cooked before Chris practically broke my door down, utterly panicked. He immediately started yelling for me, heading towards the kitchen, probably because it was instinct for him to go towards food without thinking about it. When he found me he took a deep breath, like he always did before he started yelling.
"She's a ghost." I interjected, putting my hand on his shoulder awkwardly. I forced a nervous smile, hoping against hope he wouldn't slap me.
Fuck. It stung so bad. He probably left a red mark or something. When I opened my eyes, we were both crying a little.
"Do you understand how worried I was? Why couldn't you have told me that before I almost had a heart attack? I was scared you'd go to jail and I'd have to bail you out and I don't even have money! Oh my god..."
"I was going to see if we could fuck today, but due to this inconvenience, I doubt it's happening, huh?"
He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it when he registered my response. A light blushing spread across his face until he was totally red. For all the sex jokes he made, Chris was a wimp at heart. June always told me that anyone would get uncomfortable if they heard half the things I say to him, though.
Suddenly a voice came from the front of the house.
"Hey, why is this shirt so wet?"
I jumped a little, bumping into the still blushing Chris. I cupped my hands over my mouth and replied: "Sorry, I'll get you a dry one. I'll be just a minute, okay?" I turned to Chris. "Stay where you are. Do not let her see you under any circumstances. Got it?"
Chris nodded as took off my hoodie and then my shirt, albeit slightly flustered when he saw my bare chest. I put my hoodie back on and ran into the living room.

I skidded across the floor- wearing socks isn't always a good idea- and caught myself in front of the couch, brushing my hair out of my face as I attempted to regain my composure.
"Okay, recap time," I said to her, motioning for her to take off the wet shirt and throwing the one I used to be wearing onto the couch as well. "My name is Lucas. I found you on the side of the road, so I took you home because I was worried. You're a ghost. Nobody can see you besides me and other ghosts. Okay?"
"Okay."
Her voice was soft and quiet, matching her appearance. She was taking all this really well. Maybe she already understood what was going on? I couldn't really tell, but that didn't matter.
"So you can't leave this house without me or you might get seriously hurt. I can't protect you if I don't know where you are."
She nodded. I tried to think of what to say, but I was kind of lost.
