The night before I start junior high and I already feel the anxiety building up. That night I hardly sleep, toss and turn, and worst of all wake up 2 hours earlier than needed. Thanks. After reminiscing about my summer and cursing whatever God made school a thing, I get up and get dressed in what my mom has picked out for me because "It'll look great on you sweetheart." I'm wearing a grey maxi dress, combat boots, and my favorite, eyeliner. Eyeliner is war paint to me. Ever since I came to California from Budapest it hasn't been easy. I just wanted one more year of adjusting but noooooo, I have to get an education. It's not like I don't know the basics, the rest is just extra shit they put in so you feel accomplished. My morning breakfast is the same as usual, a fruit smoothy with almonds on the side. After I'm done eating and giving my new family goodbyes, I head to the bus stop. That's when it happens, I hear a noise and go into reflex mode. The person behind me is bloody and scorched when I'm done, I kick their legs to see if they're at least knocked out and used my pen to write a sticky note to place on their forehead. The note said "Sorry for almost killing you, I hope you rot in hell." See it'd be different if the man was doing anything else but he comes up to me and gropes my butt. I don't take bullshit from anyone young or old, skinny or fat. After that is taken care of I silently walk down the path to my designated bus stop to wait. About 5 minutes into waiting I see a young man approaching, he can't be more than a year above me, and giving me a little wave of his hand. He reaches the bus stop and starts talking, "Hi I'm Akyler and I guess we have the same bus stop," he gives a small chuckle and continues "You look a little flustered there princess, need me to hold your hand?" He gives me this look that makes the hair on the end of my neck stand up. I say "No thanks I'd rather not be a plaything." He huffs and pouts then makes a silly face to get me to laugh. I'm not sure what his deal is and when the bus pulls up at exactly 7:12 I heave a sigh of relief. I sit on the bus and think "This is going to be interesting."
