"Do you think you can handle him alone? He is a dangerous man, Soraka. People say he's having some dirty secrets and connections going on", Aurelion Sol said and looked at me. I just nodded and smiled, spreading my wings. "I am sure there's good in his heart, and I don't care how small this good part might be, I will find it." He just sighed and gave me a bag. "I can't believe you're seriously going alone. Take care." With these words he flew up to the night sky and disappeared.
I opened the bag and found a cape to hide my wings and my horn under it. Carefully I put the hood above my head, took a deep breath and began my travel to Ionia. It was a very long way and I knew I would need hours, maybe even days to walk there. I would have flown there, but Aurelion Sol had told me to stay inconspicuous this time, so I had to walk. Don't get me wrong, I had enough energy from the stars to walk for ages, but it was very boring.
After a while the dawn was breaking and I waved the stars goodbye, until they completely disappeared. I already missed living up there with the others, but I couldn't go back before saving the people in Ionia from this criminal. I already forgot his name, but that was fine, I would surely remember it as soon as I arrived.
The hours passed and the landscape changed completely. The mountains disappeared and left forests behind. I loved the green of the leafs in summer and took a seat unter a big tree to take a rest. Listening to the creatures in the forest and looking at the nature always gave me a deep feeling of satisfaction because it was all so different from home. In the sky everything was dark, glittering, kind of perfect but also colder than earth.
As soon as I went on and reached a path, a young woman on a cart stopped by and smiled at me. "Hey, you need a ride?" I looked at her surprisedly, wondering why many people weren't as nice as this woman was, pulled my hood lower over my face and took a seat at the back of the cart.
"So, where do you go?", said and I heard how curious she was. "Ionia and you?"
She turned around and stared at me. "Are you crazy? Ionia is one of the most dangerous places to be at the moment, what would a girl like you do at such a place?" "I'm searching for someone." She turned quiet, sighed and shook her head. "Okay, I can bring you to the entrance of the city, but after that you're on your own. I'm sorry, but nobody can make me go through the city. Last time I was there some robbers stole all my money."I had to swallow loudly. Slowly I started to wonder what I had gotten myself into this time and I was really glad I was nearly immortal. "Thank you...", I mumbled and kept quiet for the rest of the way. I watched the clouds as they flew over my head. "I can do this", I thought to myself, not really knowing if I really could, but I had to. I would never go back to the stars, knowing I failed to make Ionia a better place.
Arriving at the entrance of Ionia I gave some Gold to the woman and smiled at her. "Thank you. May the stars guide you." She looked at me confusedly and stared at the Gold. "Is this real Go-" Before she finished her sentence I had already disappeared.
The streets of Ionia were full of people and I went through them slowly, looking for a place to stay. As soon as I reached a market I went up to a stall and bought an apple. I felt hungry and hadn't eaten for hours, so I really needed that one, but as I saw a little child sitting in a dark corner crying I went up to the little one, handing it the apple. It looked at me surprisedly. "What...?" I smiled. "I don't know what's bothering you, but I'm here if you need help. Take it, okay?" He bit into the apple and smiled a little. "Thanks Ma'am." Quickly he ran away and I kept going through the streets. I was still hungry, but that didn't matter.
At the end of the marketplace I saw a building with the words "Gragas' Inn" on it. Immediately I went there, entered and walked up to a counter with a man behind it. "Well hello there", he said grinning and leaned against the counter. "Room for one?" "Yes please." "20 Gold per night." I looked into the bag that Aurelion Sol had given me. The Gold in it and my own should be enough for a while. I nodded and smiled. "Okay." He looked at me surprisedly and gave me a key. "Room 42, fourth floor. Make yourself at home." "Thank you, I surely will." I was about to go to the stairs, but he walked past the counter and stood in my way. "Take care young lady, there's dangerous people around. Just cry for help and I will come up to you, alright?" He winked at me and I don't know why, but that made me feel very uncomfortable. I nodded quickly. "T-thank you", I responded quietly and just wanted to go upstairs.
He took a step aside and I went upstairs quickly to the fourth floor. Opening my room door I smelled something that made me shake. It smelled like blood and mould. Trying not to vomit I threw my bag on a small bed next to the window and searched for the source of that smell, until I found a dead rat in the fridge.
"Poor boy", I whispered, folded my hands and mumbled: "May your soul be free." Then I brought the rat outside and started to set up my room. It was very dirty for such a high price, but that was fine. I had my own little bathroom with a bathtub, an own stove, fridge, a small bed and a couch. I wouldn't pass much time here anyway, so it was fine with me.
As soon as I had unpacked my bag I went up to the bathroom, took the broom that had already laid there and started cleaning the room. It was exhausting and I started to feel tired, but that was okay because after cleaning the room felt more comfortable.
Feeling tired I laid down on the bed, sighed and closed my eyes. I would go outside later, that moment I was too exhausted and wanted nothing but sleep.
