Prologue (you need to read both)

Liz Thomas is a regular Irish teenager; well as normal as you can be living in Tara, the capital of the supernatural. I take that back, she is not at all normal; she has to change her date of birth every few years because she never ages, and she has been 15 since 1805. She was turned into a vampire on 21 October, 1805 in Cape Trafalgar, Spain. If either the date or place seems familiar it's because that was the date of the Battle of Trafalgar a naval battle between the English and the combined fleets of the French and Spanish. Liz was on HMS Victory as a midshipman when she was bitten. No one knew that she was a girl of course, because she had been disguising herself as a boy for many years after escaping the poverty of her village in County Kildare. She deserted the ship when they docked in Portsmouth for repairs and got on the first vessel back to Ireland. She has stayed in Ireland for the last 200 years, moving from place to place so it wouldn't be obvious what she was. I'm going to let her take over telling her story now, starting in the year 2012.
