    Dipper P.o.V

Dipper walked into the dining room to find only his Gruncle sitting at the dining room table. The teen heard sizzling coming from the kitchen, signaling that Mabel was still cooking breakfast. He sat down at the dining table with Stan, his Gruncle giving him a nod from behind his newspaper and grumbling out something that resembled 'good morning'.

"Morning Gruncle Stan," Dipper replied, tapping his fingers against the table, full of chips and splinters. He wondered what Mabel had cooked for breakfast but this question was answered immediately as Mabel came into the dining room. She held a platter of pancakes in one hand and a small pile of bacon on a plate in her other.

"Dipper, can you get the syrup and butter from the kitchen?" She asked, setting down the two plates of food. Dipper nodded, getting to his feet and walking into the kitchen.

Wow. Bill suddenly spoke, making Dipper jump and drop the butter knife.

"Damn it, Bill." Dipper hissed, "At least give me a warning before you're gonna talk."

Aww, but where is the fun of that? Bill snickered, making Dipper roll his eyes. He went to the silverware drawer to grab another knife. He felt an uncomfortable itch in his left arm as he remembered Bill slamming it in this particular drawer. Good times, huh? Bill hummed wistfully as if remembering a hillside picnic.

"I wouldn't say so." Dipper sharply sighed, bumping the drawer closed with his hip.

"Dipper? Who are you talking to?" Mabel asked, poking her head into the kitchen.

"No one, Mabel, sorry! I'll be out in a sec." Dipper lied, grabbing the butter and syrup.

If you don't want your sister to hear you talking to me, just think about what you wanna say to me. Bill commented but went silent after no response from Dipper.  The teen set the condiments on the table in front of his family members and then took a seat.

"Looks great, kid. You didn't, y'know add any glitter perchance?" Stan grumbled, lifting a few pancakes onto his plate as he side-eyed Mabel.

The teen girl just grinned, winking with exaggeration. "Guess you'll just have to find out Gruncle Stan." She joked with a big smile. Dipper also smiled, he hadn't seen his sister smile for a while now and it took his mind completely off Bill.

"They look delicious Mabel, thank you," Dipper added into the conversation, taking two pancakes for himself and a couple of pieces of bacon. Mabel responded to him with a small nod, but it didn't seem ill-natured. The rest of the breakfast was spent in comfortable silence, the peace making Dipper relax since the last few days had been so chaotic. His mind wandered and he got to thinking about Bill.

It is strange, the brunette thought, poking his pancakes with his fork. Bill didn't try to strike up a deal or get the journal yet. Dipper sighed, taking a bite of pancake. The flavor was nice, if a bit sweet, he guessed that Mabel added more sugar into the batter. Bill never seemed to want to harm us. Except for when we made his deal go wrong. Dipper sighed, chewing on the last piece of bacon, he wasn't sure what to make of Bill's intention and it was stressing him out.

"I'm gonna go for a walk in the forest," Dipper announced, standing up from the table with his plate. Mabel stood up as well.

"I'll come with you." She offered, Dipper hesitated, turning to face his twin. Normally he would be more than happy to go mystery hunting in the woods with his sister. Yet with their recent fight and Bill pestering him, Dipper wanted to be alone for now.

"I don't know Mabel," Dipper mumbled, following his sister into the kitchen to wash off their plates, "I kinda wanna go alone today." Mabel tensed up.

"Are you sure?" She asked, thankfully not arguing back.

"Yeah, I won't go in too deep. Promise." Dipper reassured his sister, he leaned over to look at her face. Her nose was slightly scrunched up and she pouted. "What's wrong Mabel?"

"Nothing!" She twirled sharply on her heel, slapping Dipper in the face with her hair. Dipper sputtered, pulling a long brown strand off his nose. "Have fun."

Dipper just sighed and placed his washed plate in the drying rack. He was sure he had messed up again. Shaking his head to clear it, Dipper grabbed a small backpack and threw his journal and two pens, one black and one red, into it. From the kitchen, he grabbed a water bottle and granola bar from the pantry.

"Be back before dark or you're sleeping with the wolves!" Gruncle Stan bellowed from the living room, where he was now watching TV.

"Gotcha!" Dipper called back, practically skipping out of the front door and down the rickety shack stairs. He broke into a run, ducking under tree branches and hopping over roots. He followed the trail and signs for the Mystery Shack until he found a smaller trail jutting off to the left. He slowed his pace, following the less traveled trail for a few minutes until he reached a small clearing. It was a beautiful clearing, a river ran perpendicular to the trail the blue water glistened by the summer sun and rocks lined the edges and littered the rest of the clearing. Flowers grew plenty here and Dipper found a particularly comfortable rock to sit on, which had been warmed by the sun. He cracked open the journal, leafing through the pages carefully until he reached a blank page. He took out a pen and began sketching. Without thinking, he sketched a small triangle in the top right corner with a small eye and brick pattern.

You capture my likeness well, Pine tree. Bill taunted, making Dipper scrunch up his nose.

"I wasn't trying to draw you, Dorito." Dipper shut the journal. "I can't help that my mind has been on you all day."

        Awww Pine Tree, I'm blushing

"Oh shut up. I was thinking about what to ask you." Dipper snapped. The triangle went silent for a little as Dipper just watched the trees and river idly. Without warning, the world's colors drained, making Dipper perk up. "Bill?" Dipper asked, standing up from the rock and looking around the monochrome landscape. He must have been dreaming and that brightly colored demon was probably the culprit. With a crack, Bill appeared in front of the teen.

"Ahhh that's better!" Bill's voice echoed around the clearing.
