Chapter 1-School's Back In Session

Tessa's POV:

"Bye Ma, bye Da!" I shout up the stairs of the packhouse. I walk out the door, popping my shades on, before walking over to Liam. Liam is my older brother, a senior in highschool and the next in line to be the pack's Alpha. He has dirty blonde hair that contrasts with my black hair but we both have the same emerald green eyes, we got them from our mother. "Sup bro, ready to go back to hell?" I asked, he turned to me laughing and pulled me into a hug. Liam and I used to have so much in common when we were younger, but that all changed when the rogues took me and tortured me for over a month before my father and his men found me...I changed. I used to be so happy, bubbly and carefree but now I dont give a shit about life. I will protect my family and friends with my life but I am no longer friends with the wolves from my early days, I pushed them all away, and they let me, so...

I still see Kathy, Mark and Sandra around a lot because they are in my pack, but they gave up on me a long time ago. My friends now, are the only ones who understand my trauma and mindset of steel walls around your heart and hurt them before they hurt you. Liam and I are still close but there's a lot of barriers between us now. He was watching me when I was abducted and so, he blames himself for my capture. He has never been the same either, he threw himself into Alpha training, pack duties and school. Me on the other hand became very withdrawn, I pushed everyone away, which they didnt make very difficult to be honest, and I stopped giving a fuck about almost anyone or anything, including school etc.

I hop into my new matte black lamborghini huracan with tinted and bulletproof glass. Liam got into his bright red Dodge Challenger and we took off towards the school. After 25 minutes or so, we pulled up. It was still only 8:20am and school didnt start until 8:40am so a lot of students were still outside. I reved my engine as I pulled into a spot, because there was a group of idiots in the way. I turned off the engine, watching Liam go inside with his mates before stepping out. I took my handbag, putting it on my arm and locked the door. There were a whistles from the boys and glares from the girls as I put my shades on my head, revealing my stone cold eyes, turning around. I heard a few of the new guys gasp and whisper "I'd tap that anytime of the day" and things like that. I just smirked at one of them, taking a step forward. "Are you sure about that lovey? I'm Tessa Martins, ring a bell?" I asked and laughed when he backed up when it clicked. "Ur crazy!" I smiled at his words. "No love, Im sweet as icing if you dont piss me off, dont worry, dont get on my bad side and you wont have to find out just how crazy I can be" I winked and turned to find my crew.

I heard her before I saw her. "Well if it aint my favourite bitch?!" I chuckled and spun around to her. "Well if it aint the one and only Moning Lisa!" She laughed before hugging me. Lisa, Liam and my parents are the only people allowed to hug me, anyone else will get fucked up if they even try. Lisa led me over to the others with her arm around my shoulder. Ryder and Ryan were in matching outfits, like always, smoking, it was a tad creepy. The boys and I have had our fair share of late nights, neither of them have found their mates yet. Ryder is a full time player, so I wouldnt be surprised if his mate rejected his ass, and Ryan, he acts like a lost puppy around me. I think he is in love with me but he knows I dont date, I fuck and leave.

Ive kept a little more distance between us because of his feelings. As dumb and annoying as he can be, he is a sweetheart and doesnt deserve to be used or get his heart broken, I know what thats like. Ryder smirks at me, winking. I just shake my head, and Ryan smiles at me sweetly. "Hey Tess.." I return his smile with a small one of my own. "Hey Ry, hows the ankle?" I glanced at his stance, it seemed okay. "Ah, all good Tess, healed up right well." I nodded and then I realised that Owen wasnt there. "Yo, lads where the hell is doucheface?" "With Holly" the boys said in usison. I cringed. "That dude's gotta learn to keep his dick in his pants I tell ya. Like yeah I know he is human and all but cmon, he dont even have any standards! That slut has been with the whole track team at this point, both girls and boys!" I used angry hand gestures, making them all laugh.

"Right, ready?" I looked at Lisa and nodded. I walked in first with the three behind me, I was the leader of the group, and the school hahaha. I flung the double doors open at once. I was looking to my left laughing at an angry cheerleader shouting at a jock for not calling her back. Suddenly my senses were invaded with the most delicious, mouth watering smell and I stopped dead in my tracks. It was a mixture of earth, rain, vanilla and strawberries. I almost moaned in delight, until my wolf stirred, which didnt happen very often as my eyes searched the halls until they landed on this beautiful short girl with dyed blonde hair, and the bluest eyes I have ever seen, who was talking to a average looking boy with brown hair.

Then my wolf Mylie, said something I never expected to hear her say, "MATE!!". I knew by now that my eyes were glowing gold and I think others started to notice because a lot of them moved back. The boy touched her arm and all hell broke loose. "Mine.." I growled low in my throat as Mylie came forward, taking full control. I stormed forward and ripped him off of her, putting him up against the wall. His blue eyes turned black, meaning his wolf was on the surface. "Back down PUP, if I ever catch you laying a hand on her again, I will not hesitate in ripping you to shreds, AM I CLEAR?!" I shouted. He took back control and nodded, gulping. I released him "go!" I said in a cold tone. He slowly backed up before running off. I turned around to see my mate shaking with fear in her eyes.

Well done you idiot, you scared our mate, the poor thing is terrified, she's human!

I slowly feel my eyes returning to their bright green. Lisa and the boys are at my side as I take a few deep breaths. Lisa hesitantly puts her hand on my shoulder "Woah Tess, what the hell just happened? It looked like you were going to kill the poor kid right there!" " I almost did, but I didnt want her to see that, she doesnt know..." she gasped "Oh no.." yep, this was a shit storm and to make it even better I notice my mate had slid down to the ground and was hyperventilating, oh crap! "Shit..guys, back up a minute, she's panicking, someone get me some water!" They backed up and Ryder ran around the corner, coming back quickly with a bottle of water.

I slowly crouch down to her, holding the water out to her. She just stared right through me as tears started flowing down her cheeks. "Sweetie? Please look at me, we wont hurt you, I promise.." no response..that brought tears to my eyes. I whipped them away quickly. "Nah fuck this, come on baby, you're going to be okay, I swear" I throw the water to Lisa and scoop my mate up in my arms, bridal style when I realise shes starting to fade into unconsciousness. I loved the tingles that shot through my entire body. "Stay awake baby, just listen to my voice, Im here, Im right here.." Her eyes closed and her breathing started to even out a little, but she was fading, quickly. I looked at a shocked Ryan "Go get my brother!" I go to walk out the door but there's a crowd blocking my way, all looking shocked as hell. "MOVE IT" I screamed, tears visibly building behind my eyes, blurring my vision.

Everyone parted ways for me, Lisa and Ryder. I get outside just as Liam comes running out of the school behind me. "What the hell is going on T-" he took one look at me and my mate and put two and two together. "Oh my god..." The first tear falls as I look down at the girl in my arms, my eyes immediately go to her chest, it isnt moving, I listen for her heartbeat but I cant hear one, and there are no tingles! "NO NO NO NO, Please tell me I didnt just gjve the poor girl a heart attack I-" I stop and start running, laying her down on the grass near Lisa's car. Ryder starts to speak "Tess, wha-" "SHE ISNT BREATHING!" I sobbed.

A crowd of students had followed us outside watching this all unfold but I didnt care right now. I immediately start chest compressions, counting as I went "4..5..6..7.." nothing was happening, after 70 compressions, Liam kneeled down beside me and put his hand on my shoulder "Tess..she's-" he whispered but I just screamed. "NO, she cant be, I DIDNT EVEN HEAR HER SPEAK, I DONT EVEN KNOW HER N-NA-ME!" I stuttered as the tears flowed freely now. Someone cleared their thought, I looked up to see the boy who I had almost killed five minutes ago... "Violet...her name is Violet" he whispered. Everything started feeling real and I lost it. I started compressions again, sobbing my heart out "VIOLET, please baby, wake up, come back to me!" "Tess, she's gone, Im so sorry" Lisa was at my right now as reality set in. "She didnt have her wolf to protect her..." I whispered in sorrow as I placed a shaky kiss to Violet's idle lips and placed my head on her chest as I sobbed, my heart shattering in my chest.
