A/N, and headcanons. May be inaccurate still)

(Edited 5/5/22:) Accuracy still kinda questionable, I think a lot of the spoilers are gone. I'm also trying to do chapters in order now, so hopefully that'll happen as well. This book will always be rearranged in timeline order, even if I have to move chapters around. By this point I'm convinced most of the views on this particular page are me just editing it and I wish Wattpad didn't count that, lol. (someone lmk what the rules are for what counts as a read, I want to stop triggering it)

Author's Note: First fanfic! Or published story! (ever :0) Decently proud of it so far. Critiques welcome. This story & Missing took far, FAR too much of my time away, and I don't think I've ever had something demand to exist this strongly before. It's a strange feeling to actually write something instead of just plot-planning for years at a time. ...This one's taken 4+ months (so far) and a lot of plot planning actually, so I guess that still counts, heh.

(edit its been a full [two] year[s] now and the plot has changed at least three times, which is why updates are slow <3)

Timing:  N&M is everything before the close of the King arc in the Minecraft timeline (includes all of AvA). Missing is set at some point after this. We're following the basic canon timeline but also Not Really, because this covers everything BUT the canon timeline.

[see the first page on the oneshots page for more indepth info on universe headcanons]:

Alan's computer physics:  frickin complicated. It's a 3D box to the sticks, but Alan can only see the closest layer to the screen; so while the stick figures can hop between folder layers and tabs and do stuff there, Alan has to click there to see them. The computer screen exists as a transparent wall; and they can see the "outside world" (slightly blurred, like through thick or frosted glass) on the other side. The sides of the inside of the computer are black walls; and there's technically a back, but it gets darker and messier the farther back you go from the screen, so the sticks tend to stay closer to the front.

Living space: The colorgang live in Minecraft houses on the desktop, or in the sticksfight.com house. Blue usually cooks. The tunnel to Yellow's roller coaster has been expanded into a side cavern they call "the basement", and Yellow has claimed it as a coding lab. He's got a couple of computers, and a lot of random junk he & Green try to find/have found a use for. The rest of the squad store miscellaneous stuff in a side closet, but they're careful about what they leave because when Yellow's obsessing, literally anything could get absorbed into a project.

The Void (not the Minecraft void): The fandom's collective name for the place Victim went after AvA 1. Everyone has their own interpretation for it; mine is that it's a timeless, spaceless, warped paradox with all the content that's ever been deleted residing within it- because you can't really get rid of an idea once you've thought of it. Think the singularity within a black hole, but with ideas instead of matter.
When killed, CG stick figures can come back with a site/PC reload, unless the site they run off of is destroyed. Animated stick figures are incredibly hard to revive, and it only increased the more powerful they are. Both King's staff (based off theory that the black hole in Ultimate Weapon was a portal to the Void) and Second's powers (AvA5) can break into or out of the Void.

Site links:  CG sticks are linked to their origin sites/programs/pc, and as long as those still exist, they can be brought back with a reload. BUT any sticks linked to a destroyed site will glitch and die with it, no matter where they are. Animated sticks have an autosave file that automatically updates, and are tentatively linked to their origin pc. CG links can be redone if the coder knows what they're doing.

Powers: Almost every Animated stick will have powers, since they have official names. Powers can be determined by the Animator, or the name itself. How this happens is a bit mysterious to everyone involved. CG sticks almost never have inherant powers, although some have weapons or conditions that let them come close, if their program requires them to (ex: Avast is an antivirus, and needs to be able to kill things much more powerful than himself).
