I had just gotten out of the hospital a few weeks ago, the wound still hurted a little.

Since I had been in the hospital for some time, I needed to get back on my grind and make a few drops. But first I wanted to get this damn date with Jermaine over, but we hadn't talked since I left the hospital.

I was in my house, well my moms house. It was what she left me on her will. I still remember the words she told me before her death; 'Kelsey, baby, I want you to do something good for your life. Have a bright future with your husband and kids. I know I ain't been the best momma, but I love you, remember that baby girl. My greatest creation was you. Your lost in so much confusion, but your smart enough to find away out. I want you to move out of Detroit and find you a good place. Okay?'

I was knocked out of my thoughts when someone knocked on the door. I got up from the table and put my stash away.

"How you get here?" I asked.

"Your sister. Now lets go, Ma." Jermaine replied.

I let him in and quickly took off my clothes and slipped on some tights and a sweat shirt with Jordan's.

I turned around quickly when I heard a groan and saw Jermaine at my door.

"Next time, close ya door." He said, not taking his eyes off me.

We were in the car on the way to the bowling alley when my song came on, I turned it up and started rapping along.

"It's like '09 in your basement and I'm in love with Nebby

And I still love her but it fell through because I wasn't ready

And your back hurt, and your neck hurt, and you smoking heavy

And I sit next to you, and I lecture you because those are deadly

And then you ash it and we argue about spending money on bullshit

And you tell me I'm just like my father, my one button, you push it

Now it's "Fuck you, I hate you, I'll move out in a heartbeat"

And I leave out and you call me, you tell me that you're sorry

You love me, and I love you, and your heart hurts, mine does too

And it's just words and they cut deep but it's our world, it's just us two

I see painkillers on the kitchen counter, I hate to see it all hurt so bad

But maybe I wouldn't have worked as hard

If you were healthy and it weren't so bad..."

•end of song•

"So you rap?" Jermaine asked, laughing.

"You ain't know?" I said chuckling.

"Whatever he said as we pulled up to the bowling alley.

"I'll pay for myself, J." I said taking a few bills out my jacket.

"Naww, I got you. You ain't paying for shit when you wit me." He reassured me.

"So what got you into the streets?" I asked but stopped when I saw the look of pain in his eyes, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't of as--"

"No, you good." He sighed as he put on his bowling shoes, "My ma got diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 12, I loved her so much and one day I saw my cousin selling drugs and told him I would like to make some money, to help cure my ma. This was Detroit, ain't nobody have that type of money and that seemed liked the only way to make it. He said he wanted me a lil older and during that time he showed me how to deal and who and what to watch out for. So when I turned thirteen I started as soon as possible, due to my mom only having less than a year left. One day, I was almost close to the money I needed for her cure but I was too late. I saw her die... I was their when she did.. She told me to make something of myself and that's what I'm tryna do. What bout chu?"

"Dad left, mom died, after that I had nobody but a few family members I barely talk to. Mom left me the house, that I was tempted to sell to get a small apartment and use the rest of the money for my needs, but just couldn't. After some months the small amount of money my mom left me wasn't enough, so I started selling drugs and that's how I got here."

"Damn, talk about a childhood." He chuckled.

We were finishing our last bowling round and if I got a strike I would win. I pulled the ball back and was about to let it roll when someone called my name.

I looked over to see Dia'Monte. [AN: I just love that name!] I hadn't seen him in years. He was my high school boyfriend.

He looked more mature but for some reason he was unattractive to me now. I looked to my side and noticed I was comparing him to Jermaine, lately I have been doing that a lot.

"Hey." I smiled as I have Dia'Monte a small hug and was about to roll when he wanted to make a conversation.

"Man, we on a date if you haven't noticed." Jermaine said, obviously annoyed.

"Anyway... maybe we should meet up, sometime." Dia'Monte said.

"Monte, I don't have time to chit chat and if you don't remember you broke up with me, so why you trying to front?" I said

"That was over two years ago, Kel." Dia'monte said.

"Can you just leave?" Jermaine spoke up, "you really bout to make me kick yo ass."

"Hit me up! You got my digits." Dia'Monte said before he left.

"Nigga, you wish." I muttered before rolling the heavy bowling ball and making a spare.

"Ahhh. Look at you." Jermaine said, teasing me.

"Whatever." I said and just like that he grabbed my waist and kissed me softly.

I kissed back as our lips moved in sync. He teased and nibbled on my lips till they parted. His wet tongue entered my mouth. He turned his hand a little as we kissed, our tongues fighting for dominance.

A few minutes later I pulled back smiling.

"Damn." He said as he wiped his bottom lip, dragging his thumb across it.

"Yeah." I chuckled.
