The cold abyss

They say when the life is being drained from you “go to the light” but that isn't true for me at all. My eyes opened and I saw nothing. As I started to get up the whole room was pitch black and was so cold, Not the cold as in burr but as in the mutual feeling of nothingness. It was so dark that it was like trying to see the light with eye's that couldn't be opened.

I cautiously started to walk into the cold and shapeless room, trying to feel my way even though there was nothing to touch. I walked for hours and there seemed no end to this strange and daunting abyss.

As I kept walking I saw a faint glimmer of light in the distance. As soon as I saw that light I was thinking only one thing....hope. But as usual I was wrong.

The closer I got to the strange light the hotter it became and then I came into range of what the source of light was, I couldn't believe that she was the source of heat.

“Madeline? Is that you?”I crept closer to her.

“No it’s not” the voice that replied to me was so full of hatred.

"Wha? I don't understand" I said with astonishment.

With a dark and deep voice the demon said “FOOOOOL! I’m not who I appear to be.”

“Oh? Well you look like...”cutting me off the demon spoke yet again with a snake tongue “I am not Madeline. When will you get that?”

Trying to shield my eyes from the intense light I answered “if you’re not Madeline then who or what are you?” my voice was getting raspy due to the fact that I was hardly producing any saliva because of the treacherous heat.

“I am a fire demon and my only task is to terrorize anybody that my master tells me to. But you’re in luck for I can only speak with you when you’re in a deep sleep.” His facial features were starting to show when the light dimmed down. He had a human head with enormous ears, teeth that looked like daggers and finally there was his eyes, they were so beautiful that it was scary his iris was golden colored with a small flame in the pupil area. His body was mostly human except for the fact that his completion was a blood maroon color.

“Your master?” I was hoping that this demon would be stupid enough to tell me who the master was.

‘HAHAHAHA” pretending to wipe tears from his eyes “Do you honestly think that I’d be foolish enough to tell you who it is? No. But I will tell you that you can find my master in this realm as well as in the real world.”

Those last few words he spoke caught me by surprise. “So what you’re telling me is that whoever summoned you to haunt me came from the human world?”

“Exactly, but enough talk I’m not here to have a friendly chat, I’ve been sent here to make sure that when you wake up you’ll never want to go to sleep.” Bearing his dagger sized fangs.

He looked as if he were about to attack and for once I was right and I assure you I didn’t want to be. He bolted at me with such blinding speed that is would shame an Olympic runner, next thing I knew I felt a fiery fist meet my stomach.   All the air left me before I could even close my mouth.

“You’re weak” as he was going back to his original stance.

My vision was blurry after that hit so it took me a while to process what he said. But then I thought back to when he said that I’ll never want to wake up after this.

“Yo before you beat the shit out of me answer me this one question.”

“Proceed”. He looked as if he knew what the question was going to be.

“When I got shot did I die or am I just in coma?”

He crossed his arms and spoke yet again with that foul tongue “it’s neither of ‘em.” When you first got shot you did die that’s what all the darkness around you was but when my master conjured me and sent me into your mind, my entry caused a huge amount of electricity to course through your body which made your heart jolt back to life. Who would’ve thought that I’d bring you back to life just to kill you again” with that he let out a maniacal laugh.
