Chapter 10 [Edited]

Hunters POV

"No thank you. I'm stuffed" She replies with a smile as she rubs her belly.

"Alright" I stand up and offer her my hand. "Let's go sit in the lounge" I say to her as she wakes up whilst holding my hand.

She smiles adorably, taking my hand allowing me to pull her towards the lounge. A small smile pops up on her face as she looks at our conjoined hands. I feel the sides of my mouth tilt, a smile slowly appears on my face whilst I watch her and her little smile.

As much as I would prefer to have her in my arms, all to myself, I also have to remember not to force her to rush into a sudden relationship with me. I need to calm myself down and get to know her better before rushing her.

We both sit down on a sofa. I let go of her hand, her warmth suddenly leaving my cold hand. I keep a little bit of a distance between us, not wanting her to feel uncomfortable or freak out.

"My little flower, tell me more about yourself" I say to her, trying to make a conversation so things aren't awkward between us. She looks up from her folded hands and gives me a timid smile.

"Uh t-there actually isn't much to know about me. I've grown up in a orphanage which wasn't the friendliest. When I turned 18, I moved out and found a job. It wasn't the richest job, but it helped pay my bills and put a roof over my head." She replies.

Suddenly the smile on the face dims, realization of what happened to her 'apartment' dawns upon her.

"M-my a-apartment? Yesterday? I-What happened?" She asks.

"Don't worry your pretty little head about it darling, I called some people last night and they are currently renovating the place." I say to her.

Her big doe eyes look at me, innocence clearly visible in her pretty eyes.

"I-I have no money" She says. My eyebrows scrunch up in confusion as I look at her.

"Money? Money for what?" I ask.

"To pay- to pay you back for my apartment and letting me stay her l-last night" She says, bitting her lower lips as she avoids eye contact with me.

"You don't have to pay me darling. What I did for you was not because I wanted you to pay me back or because I wanted something in return" I say to her, taking one hand out of her lap and holding it in mine. Content flows through my body as her warm hand holds mine.

"It-It just feels unfair you know? I-I'm making you do all of this for me and I feels like I- like I'm using you" She says, bitting on her lower lip a bit more harshly as it starts to turn red.

I remove one hand from our conjoined hands and take her lip out from between her teeth.

"Stop bitting your lip before it starts to bleed darling. And you don't have to feel guilty about anything, I chose to help you. It was my choice. There is no need to feel guilty. And you aren't using me, this is something I want to do to help you." I say, giving her a small smile to try and ease her worried mind.

"I...I really appreciate it. I do, everything you've- everything that you've done for me, a s-stranger. I'm thankful for it." She bows her head and says.

"Well then, you're welcome darling." I smile.

She suddenly wakes up, straightening her shirt as she licks her lips and looks at me.

"I-I should probably go to work n-now. It's really late - and I was supposed to help open t-the shop and we had an orde-'" I stop her from rambling as I stand up and grab her hand.

"Breath flower." I say. "I called Mary and told her you'll be coming in late. Why don't you go get changed, I asked my housekeeper to place a dress in the room for you, once you're ready, I'll drop you off at work"

"I-its fine really! I can take the bus.. You- You've already done so much for me. I really don't want to be a burden to you." She says.

My jaw clenches at her words. Why would she think she's a burden?

"You aren't a burden Lily. Please get dressed and I will drop you off at work. Oh and I will also fetch you when you're done" I say.

She looks at me with an adorably confused look on her face. But nods nonetheless. She turns around and walks up the stairs towards my- soon to be our room.
