Jungkook checked the time on his screen, 23:59. The start of a new day was near but it didn't even feel like it. What was the difference between today and tomorrow? The past and the future?...Everything was so monotonous, it felt like living in a single eternal day. What was the poi-
What?...Did his wallpaper just change?
Imposible.
Jungkook moved the screen closer to his face. A loud gasp left his mouth. What the hell?
His eyes widened in disbelief and he almost dropped the phone.
Wh- who...are you?
00:01
And just like that the picture disappeared and his black background appeared once again, his reflection staring back at him.
What was that??? Was he dreaming? He blinked a couple of times but the picture refused to reappear. He ran a hand through his hair while yawning, his mind was playing tricks for sure.
He desperately needed to sleep before those hallucinations could get any worse. Lately he had been staying up late, and those hours were now taking its toll.
Sighing he turned off his phone, gaze moving towards the window. He opened his mouth in amusement. The view was breathtaking. A sky as wide as the ocean opened in front of him, the moon shining brightly and shy little clouds wrapping themselves around it. Heh, cute. The satellite's glow passed through them, coloring them with loneliness and darkness. The city lights reflected into the river, illuminating the dark water.
Jungkook looked at the sky again. Why weren't the stars shining? Did they ever shine?
A loud sound stopped his thoughts. A thunder was heard in the distance, raindrops began to come down quickly, falling into the river and breaking its calmness -awakening the beast- which now moved like a majestic dragon erasing the city lights from its scales. Jungkook shifted on his seat and focused on the rain's tapping.
Suddenly the carriage felt smaller, the rain was pressing aggressively into the windows aching to come in.
Jungkook took a deep breath. It felt like the raindrops were expressly sent to flood the cabin, like it was meant for them to be inside the train, droplets touching his skin, making him forget something, someone. He needed those raindrops to wash away those thoughts, to empty his soul, to make him forget those lost memories that refused to leave and were still hiding somewhere inside him. Or maybe they came to make him remember. To make him hold onto disappearing memories and broken promises, to create a bond and rebuild his life around it. To remind him that he should never forget what happened.
But, what happened? Did he forget it already?
''Next stop at Yongsan Station, stand clear of the closing doors. As you exit please be careful of the gap between the platform and the train. Next stop at...''
The megaphone startled Jungkook and his phone fell on the floor. He picked it up and embarrassingly looked around. A kid failed to hold his laugh and loudly snorted. Jungkook threw him a nasty look before standing up and walking near the exit.
He leaned on the holder and looked through the doors as the train was slowing down. Luckily, the station was almost empty so he didn't have to stress about the mass of people engulfing him on his way out.
The locomotive eventually stopped and the doors opened with a low buzz. Cold immediately invaded his senses and a couple of raindrops wetted his face.
He fixed his jacket and exited the train, a hurried woman with a vanilla scent passed before him.
Ting-ting.
A bell.
Suddenly, time stopped in its tracks and he held his breath, the rain around him slowed down. He could hear the other person's heart beating in synchronization with his own, creating a beautiful melody. The planets stopped their endless cycle and listened to their heartbeats. The moon was looking down at them and the stars shone brighter than ever.
He felt his body welcomed by the infinite universe of worlds, galaxies hugging his soul, touching his fingertips, dancing eternally with him. All his thoughts and worries vanished into thin air, nothing mattered anymore. Something was pulling him to the brightest star ever and he let her be, crashing himself with her -shining together- until they became one. He loved this, he needed nothing more, nothing less, she was more than enough.
He made a wish and hoped that someone listened to it. But as soon as he uttered those thoughts, the universe started moving again and he could no longer listen to her heart. He knew right then that his wish would remain as a wish forever.
Jungkook quickly turned around and before he knew it he opened his mouth.
''Uh...eh e-excuse me?'' he muttered in an awkward voice.
...
uUh Eh eGgsCuse mAh???
What the fuck Jungkook? He wanted to disappear right then and there. Why would he stop a stranger from getting on a train IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT?? And on top of it stuttering and talking like a creep. Did he even think? God, he couldn't be more embarrassing, the girl for sure was already traumatized.
She turned around with eyes as confused as ever, brows furrowed and tilted head. The disoriented expression didn't go unnoticed under the mask.
Fantastic Jungkook, EXCELLENT.
You just traumatized someone who simply wanted to take the train.
At the long silence, the girl questiongly raised an eyebrow. Jungkook's orbits widened and he stood there frozen, biting his lower lip in shame.
Her honey molten eyes were intensely staring at him. He then felt an electric shock, goosebumps forming on his skin and heart pounding extremely fast. He held the eye contact and noticed how once again the world seemed to stop. The moon was taking its place in her eyes now, staring deeply at him.
Her stare softened and that calmed him instantly, eliminating all traces of nervousness. Jungkook took a step closer and joined all his forces to utter what he was dying to ask.
The universe sent him a warning to not open his mouth. He felt the stars begging him to shut up, to not say anything, even the clouds were coming closer whispering with the rain for him to turn around and continue his path. But he ignored their warnings and listened instead to the brightest star, which encouraged him to talk.
A lighting illuminated the place and shortly after a loud thunder invaded his ears. Jungkook finally spoke.
''Have we met before?''
The moon in her eyes disappeared the moment he pronounced those words. A growl from the depths of the waters could be heard, the dragon went back to sleep.
