She wasn't always so... glorious, powerful, or even inspiring. No, she was more like a pretty normal girl for her age, I should know that. I lived with her for my whole childhood, almost like siblings, but only as she aged everyone was starting to acknowledge who she really is. -The second Noble
She tightly grips her armchair as the simulation gets more intense. She doesn't even recognize what is happening anymore, there are too many shiny objects flying incredibly fast speed through the room.
"Amaris!" Someone tries to drag her out of the chair. "Stand up, if you're not training with us, father is going to be mad!" It's Ira, one of her nine siblings. Living with them in their palace sometimes feels like a bad fairy tale. Amaris just turned 22 a few days ago, and with it only one year is left to be considered an adult on her home planet, Eitin.
"Stop dreaming!" The high-pitched voice of Ira starts piercing into Amaris's ears. "Haven't you heard me?"
The blurring image starts to make sense again. Amaris starts rubbing her eyes intensively as blaster shots are firing across the idolized landscapes of Eitin. "It's history class!" Amaris starts to remember what has happened before she fell into this kind of daydream again.
"Not the civil war again!" Amaris sighs as she wanders through the room. A typical simulation room with sensors and lights covering almost the whole area of the square-shaped room. "It's the third time this week we are in this simulation..." She stands in front of one of the simulated soldiers. A native Eitin'in wearing nothing, but a skirt made out of the desert-wolf fur. "How did these guys even manage to fight our forces?" she jokingly tries to rip the skirt off.
"Look who is back again, go back to sleep, you don't understand this either way." the voice of Eloise shimmers through the room. "The native Eitin's are a highly-skilled group of people, bearing more battle experience than any of our soldiers ever had. With the shipments of the KEY they were able to withstand our forces, hell they nearly won. I wouldn't make fun of them exactly at this point in time!" He turns his back again.
Nothing new of Nohej, he declared himself as the most intelligent sibling, and his grades speak for themselves. Aced the finishing exams already, and now spends his time as a tutor for his brothers and sisters. Amaris keeps staring at him, even after he turned his back. There is something unique about him, is it his dark blonde hair, his deep-green eyes, or his posture? It doesn't matter what exactly it is, it's just inconsistent, he changed so suddenly.
"Don't try to lecture me..." just before Amaris finishes her sentence, Ira lightly taps her shoulder, nodding gently. "He's not worth it."
"Thank you, Ira!"
"But you do need to start paying attention, finals are in one week!" her voice rings in Amaris's ears, reminding her of nothing less than a bad headache. "Big Sis, I don't want to annoy you, but you already failed your pre-exams. I just want the best for you!"
"Of course!" She looks at her slightly shorter sister. "You know, I've already started studying for our Planetarism class. Believe me, I already know most of our solar system's planets. One planet more boring than the next, I can't believe I have to study over 20 planets!" Amaris tells with a wide smile on her face.
Ira's eyes start to lighten. "Believe me, sister, just like father always says one day we are gonna rule together, like a big family." Ira takes another look at her sister. Her posture is sluggish, like always, but there is something about her face. Maybe her deep olive-green eyes? Or is it her hidden smile? A smile over her lips goes almost unnoticed, but still radiates energy. Some weird sense of hope.
The dark skin of Amaris perfectly blends in with her golden jewelry. She taps Ira on her head, "Don't worry about your sister!" There it is again, this smile!
A robotic voice starts to interrupt the simulation. "Simulation finished, lunch will be in half an hour!" And as the simulation suddenly goes off, the room is revealed. The bright walls mixed with the lack of furniture is symbolizing the seriousness of their training.
A small crowd starts to press through a narrowly opened door, decorated with gold at its sharp edges. "Let's talk about this at dinner!" Ira winks off Amaris as she runs to the crowd. Her small figure is dancing towards her siblings.
She is precious! Amaris stands still for a moment, just looking after her little sister. Father and his servants tell us that we're all going to be kings and queens, just like a fairy tale, but we could never rule a solar system together. Over two trillion people living here, each planet seems to be overcrowded. No, we can't rule together, we are too important, too powerful, too many. Father is keeping a secret from us. He will choose an heir, probably over some superficial thing, like our diploma. Ira, she would make a great queen, not lazy like me, or arrogant like Nohej, or even the stupidity of Ronan. She would care for her people, reigning with heart.
Amaris abruptly shakes her head. What am I doing? He is probably waiting for me. Eagerly staring at his ITC-PC. Can't let them win this one, Diyo already has won the last game!
She then takes a last look at the empty white room before she runs off.
