"You're going to be okay, Max." Happy reassured me as multiple hands firmly surrounded my neck. It didn't change my fear. It didn't stop me from worrying about Abel's soon to be sibling. Soon after I passed out from lack of blood and like a dream, I kept fading in and out of consciousness.

So many voices...
It's.. it's so loud..

"...babies...heartbeats" One woman spoke to another.

Babies?? As in more than one?!

"Losing....clear!!" The other shouted before a surge of electricity shot through my chest. Making it feel as if my heart were made of metal and was too close to an enormous magnet. As my vision began to fade away I heard the doctor breath a sigh of relief. "We got her back." She claimed as the anesthesia took hold, sending me into a deep sleep.

Days later:

Beep..beep...beep!

The deafening sounds of the hospital monitors woke me with pure irritation. All melted away the moment my eyes focused on Jax sleeping in what looks like the world's worst chair, directly at my side. His hand limp in my own, only needing a gentle squeeze for him to jolt awake. Piercing eyes meet mine before looking down and with shame, I covered my bandaged throat.

"No, doll." He whispered, stopping my hand mid air. Shaking his head as he laid it back on the bed.

"Ab.." I tried to start, but the pain radiating through my throat halted my words. Twisting and distorting my face from the sharpness. But before I could get my question out Jax answered. "Abel is fine. So is the baby." He said caressing the small baby bump peaking from the hospital gown.

"Wha.. what happened?" My voice was hoarse, wincing at each syllable. Jackson looked down at the bed. "I'll let Happy tell you." He responded meekly before running out the door to find him. It was only seconds later when Happy sprinted into the room, falling to his knees at my bedside. "Max." He spoke without looking me in the eyes. "I'm.." I weakly placed my hand on the back of his smooth scalp causing him to pause, he was terrified to lay his eyes on me. This invincible man brought to his knees tore my soul into pieces. He was the first to discover my true identity and risk his life for my own. His head began to shudder under the touch of my hand. "S..sorry." I stated, thinking it was my frigid extremities making him shiver. But as the word left my lips he finally looked up and for the first and only time in my life had I seen tears welling in his eyes. "Don't you.." I groaned but it needed said no matter the pain. "Don't you.. fucking dare." I stated furrowing my brows, he looked confused until I motion at his eyes then shaking my head. "Stay....strong." Happy's face went serious before nodding a silent acknowledgment.

"What happened?" My voice still weak.

"Cameron, a member of the I.R.A. had come to the house. Sack and I were there guarding you and Abel." I nodded for him to continue. "Cameron was trying to take you both back to Ireland, some form of ransom we think. He kept his attention on me, but Halfsack distracted him. Giving me my shot." He paused for a long moment. "After I shot him, his body fell... still holding the knife to your throat." Happy's breathing started quickening, fighting back emotions of any kind.

"Thank you." It didn't take me long to comprehend what happened, everyone was determined to save that sweet little boy. As much as my heart ached to see his sweet little cheeks as he smiles at me, I know my appearance  can only cause nightmares or at the very least trauma. One thing I had discovered  was my next destination, all I had to do was convince Jax.
