"What in the world happened to you?!" Madam Pomfrey rushed to Victoria as she walked into the hospital wing with an overly stiff expression on her face, Harry, Hermione, Ron, and her broken arm trailing after her.
"It's happened now, Poppy, could you please just heal it? It hurts so much!" Victoria whined with pouty lips and puppy eyes, her angry look vanishing as she perched herself on one of the beds in the hospital wing, sniffling a little to melt Madam Pomfrey's heart with her cuteness.
And sure enough, her tactics worked like a charm.
"Oh, alright! Alright!" Madam Pomfrey said, rolling her eyes as she walked further into the wing to bring out some potions to clean and cure the wound.
Ron waited patiently for the Matron to disappear completely, tapping his foot on the ground with his eyebrows furrowed, and as soon as he was sure the woman had left, he literally pounced on Victoria, "What the hell were you thinking?!" He shouted before Hermione angrily shushed him, making the boy lower his volume immediately, "What the hell were you thinking?" He whisper-shouted once more as Victoria huffed.
"What the fuck are you mad at me for?!" She whisper-shouted back as Hermione hissed out a 'Language!'
"Why would you try and save Malfoy?" Ron exasperatedly questioned, but Victoria only scoffed, slapping the boy on his head.
"I couldn't care less about Malfoy you idiot! He could get his neck snapped for all I care-"
"Then why would you-"
"Jesus Ron! If I hadn't stepped in, Malfoy would have gotten hurt, and then who knows what he would have done? He could have gotten Hagrid sacked for all you know!"
That shut him up good. Ron did try to come up with a fitting reply, but he knew all too well that what Victoria had done was for the sake of Hagrid and Buckbeak, and so he could not say anything even if he wanted to. Surprisingly, as Ron opened and closed his mouth like a fish to find suitable words to say that he was just worried, Victoria started laughing. What started off as a little giggle, had now transformed into an uncontrollable stream of chuckles tumbling from her lips, which eased up the tension and made her three friends laugh a little as well.
"Merlin, Victoria," Harry breathily said, jogging up to her before pulling her into a side hug, making sure he didn't hurt her arm any further, "You scared us!"
"I know I did, love," She laughed before ruffling his hair, as Harry turned pink and slapped her arm away, glaring at a snickering Ron and Hermione in the background, "But I scared Malfoy too, so I guess it's a win-win situation."
"But how did that," Hermione started after all their laughter died down, gesturing at her broken arm, "even happen?"
Victoria sighed, glancing at her twisted arm before speaking, "I tried to shield Malfoy from Buckbeak's talons with my arm, because I knew how much he would exaggerate even the tiniest scratch, when I threw him over my shoulder. Unfortunately for me, Buckbeak's talons caught me and got stuck in my sleeves. He must have panicked because it was Malfoy he was trying to hurt and not me, and he pulled back his claws with a jerk to prevent further damage, taking my arm with him. I even heard it snap," She said with a shudder, "It was sickening."
