Cass woke with a gasp. She shot upwards, panting heavily. Ignoring the sharp pain in her shoulder and head, she took in her surroundings. She realized she was in her own room. In Corona. What happened? she thought. She was so lost in thought she didn't realize a certain blonde had walked in. As soon as she noticed Cass was awake, she sprinted to the bed, immediately wrapping her arms around her neck.
"Cass! You're finally awake!" she squealed happily. She accidentally hugged Cass a little too tight, sending a wave of pain through her shoulder. She hissed in pain, and Rapunzel instantly let go. "Oh, Cass, I'm sorry! I was just excit-"
"It's fine, Raps. Mind telling me what happened?" Cass interrupted.
"Oh, you don't remember? We were attacked by Varian's automatons, they somehow managed to come back online and track us! One of them was about to grab me from behind but you pushed me out of the way. It grabbed you instead and threw you pretty far. You landed really hard on your shoulder, and with the momentum you had you kept going and hit a tree full force." Rapunzel explained. "Lance, Eugene, Hookfoot, and I managed to destroy the rest for good, but you were in pretty bad shape, so we cut the trip short to bring you back to Corona."
"Raps, you didn't have to come back to Corona because of me. I'm fine, see?" Cass comforted.
"Cass, it's been five days. Don't even THINK about trying the 'I'm fine' card. You were more important than the trip." Rapunzel retorted sternly, surprising Cass at the outburst.
Cass sighed, laying back down on the firm mattress. "Fine, you win. Will you tell me what happened after? Like, diagnosis-wise?"
"Mild concussion and a dislocated shoulder. Knowing you, you probably won't listen if I tell you no fighting or pushing yourself, so I'll save myself the time," Rapunzel informs. They both knew it was true, after all. After a moment of silence, they both broke out laughing. When it died down, Rapunzel pushed a raven lock off Cass's face. She brought her lips to Cass's, before pulling away quickly.
"I'm sorry! I don't know what came over me! Please don't hate me now!" She panicked.
"I don't hate you, Raps, that was just, unexpected. In all honesty, I kinda liked that." Cass sheepishly told her. Rapunzel let out a sigh, then smiled.
"You should probably get some rest. I'll tell the others you woke up and that you'll be fine," Raps tells her. Cass just nods, already feeling the sleep coming to her.
"Love you, Raps," she mumbled softly.
"Love you more, Cass. Sleep well," she replied, but Cass was already out cold.
