Abdayn walks in and just stares.
"What?" I asked annoyed. I know he wants something "No more favors"

He smiles.
He and I both work in my father's company but he takes advantage of that a lot more than I do.

"I just need today off"
I shake my head "And I'll have nothing to do with that"

He sits on the couch, picking up the remote and browsing through some channels. He huffs and eventually throws the remote by the side "What's the point of having a tv when you don't even watch"

"Go and work, I literally just sent Josephine with more details regarding the sale of the house. You know we need to finalize it as soon as possible".
He groans "Why are you trying so hard? You could skip work for three years and your father will still say nothing, he's trying so hard to please you".

I shake my head "I'm not throwing a tantrum, I'm doing the best I can because whatever happens he built all this from scratch and giving you days off anytime you want isn't to my advantage".

"Please, I just want to go see Sophie"
"Then go but you know you'll be queried and eventually suspended without pay"

He hisses.
"What's up with you suddenly?"
I don't reply.

Flashback.

I smile.
"Why are you quiet now?" Miruna asks still laughing.

"You shaded me, I'm not skinny"
She nods "I was just joking" she tries to say seriously but eventually laughs.

"Don't worry I'll repay the favor" I joke.

My phone starts ringing.
"I need to pick this"
She nods.

"Abdayn, what's up?" I ask when I pick up.
"Thabit my guy, how're you? Kana office neh? (Are you in the office?)" he asks smiling.

"Why do you want to know if I'm in the office?" I ask curiously.
"I need to go see Sophie and you know you're the only one that can cover for me"

"Je ka (Just go) I'll handle it"
"Brother thank you so much"

"Okay"
I end the call.
"He wants to skip work again?" Miruna asks.
I nod.

"Do you mind if I say something? I hope I'm not crossing the line"
I shake my head "That fine line does not exist between you and I, tell me what's on your mind"

"Well—it's obvious your relationship with your father is a bit rocky" I tense up when she mentions him. I didn't know the conversation would be about my dad and I'm afraid if she goes on things won't end with a happy note "But don't you think always letting your friend leave work whenever is unethical? You and I have met three times this week and you told me he hasn't been to work in any of those days. Don't you think he's taking advantage of you?"

I stare at her.
"Come on, that's not the case. It's not that bad".
"Do you think it's fair? All those people that come to work every single day and give it their best, working for 11hours while he works for an hour or less and still gets more pay? I know he's your friend but you're not helping him this way and you know it"

In a way she was right.
I never skipped work until I have to.
I guess I just need to change things for the better.

"You're right"
She smiles "I know, I have vast knowledge"

I groan "And a huge ego" I joke.
