She's feeling like a spider in a cage,
You liar, you were her desire
Now she wants to light you on fire,
But fuck it, she'll still give you a call
And a lighter when you wanna get high
And mess around 'till you get numb

ANGEL PEAK MENTAL INSTITUTION

Winter had come early this year, her cloak of glistening diamonds wrapped around the mountains in a vice grip. Unforgiving winds tore through the now fickle trees that bowed before her overwhelming presence.

Marinette was not a fan of winter. Maybe she once was, when the winds were akin to a caress and the snow was soft and welcoming.

She detested Winter at the Institution. Outside hours were already limited and the looming threat of Winter hung over all their heads, so much so that outside access was prohibited.

They wouldn't want their precious Guinea pigs getting killed now would they.

Without a window in her brick cell, Marinette was reduced to savouring each moment the small windows in the meal hall granted her a peak at the outside world.

Tapping on the stone wall in a rhythm that was neither on beat nor recognisable, Marinette desperately tried to avoid the glowing green gaze of the blonde boy that sat in the corner of her room.

The blonde boy with the curious gaze who sported cat ears came and went from her cell. Sometimes his eyes would burn holes in her vision when she lay on the metal table and their silver knifes carved patterns on her body.

He was gracefully silent for now which Marinette was thankful for. Rolling her bottom lip between her teeth Marinette continued her thoughtless tapping whilst trying to ignore the desperate hunger that clawed at her stomach.

"Aren't you going to say anything?" Marinette drawled out despite the ache in her throat.

The boy didn't reply, Marinette isn't even sure if he has a mouth at this point. Crouched in the corner of the cell the boy was hidden within the shadows with only his lime green eyes shining through the darkness.

Marinette giggled to herself before she paused her tapping and jumped to her feet causing the rickety bed to squeak under her weight. "Who am I kidding you never speak, just sit there. My little sad boy," Marinette said with a pout her voice moulding into a soft whine towards the end.

Lime green did nothing but blink and tilt their head. Marinette growled and braced herself to lunge at the corner wanting to get rid of the boy who never left her alone. A loud thundering of knocks threw her out of her blood thirsty rage.

She straightened and sent a bashful smile the boy's way before she apologised lightly and jumped off of the bed. Landing on the solid ground with a loud thump Marinette sauntered towards the door, eyes trained on the small opening.

"Pill time," a gruff voice announced.

Marinette scoffed before a mischievous smirk alit on her face. Winking at the sad boy Marinette lifted a hand to her mouth and whispered to the corner, "My favourite time of day...do you know why?" The boy remained unresponsive, the neon only burning brighter in Marinette's vision. She huffed at his silence before answering her own question, "Its time to cross some lines."
