It was no secret that Eraserhead would much rather be sleeping than dealing with anything that related to other humans or anything not pertaining to sleep. That's just how it was. Patrol at the ass crack hours of dawn and then come home to sleep. And yet, that is not what happened at all today. No, today he returned home only for Hizashi and his son to usher him out the door dressed in their hero uniforms. It's not all that uncommon but still, why right now? Couldn't it wait a moment?

Apparently it couldn't because one minute he was in the passenger seat of his car hanging on for dear life while his husband drove like giant bugs were on their ass the whole time, and the next he was waiting in a dark room stuffed with other pro heroes. 'What the hell. Is somebody going to explain what is going on?'

Turning to ask Hizashi what on earth is the dig deal, he only receives a nervous shrug and an apologetic look along with a measly, "We were going to be late." Exasperated at the lack of response, Aizawa turns to ask Nezu who only looked at him while smiling on his spine tingling smiles again. 'Fuck it. If someone wants to explain then they will. I'm going to bed.'

Or at least that's what he told himself. He closed his eyes and listened as the room went silent after the arrival of Tsukauchi. He let himself be led by his husband past an oddly tense man, who could have been no older than Hitoshi, in fact the greenette looked younger than what the man claimed he was.

He sat in the chair next to his family while waiting for Naomasa to return, his thoughts only interested in resting, something that seemed would not come along at any given moment. In all honesty, Shouta was waiting for something to happen. It wasn't unheard of for big missions like this to require more than a few heroes. But to include the newer generation meant something entirely different.

He listened as Nemuri and Nezu attempted to explain the situation only to get interrupted by a different voice. Looking up, Aizawa watched as the strange greenette joked with Nemuri causing the woman to forget her train of thought in an attempt to justify herself. She failed miserably.

What interested Shouta was the level of hostility, the greenette he now knew as Midoriya, displayed towards the shriveled prune they called Toshinori Yagi.

'Yagi. Just what the hell did you do to this kid?'

...

It would be a lie to say that Izuku didn't resent Yagi for what happened to his parents. The man's actions led to the deaths of the two people he loved most, but it also paved the way for a life of pain and struggle. It was funny because as a child Izuku had admired the strength and courage of the now shrunken man before him.

His father had been the Blazing Hero: Ryuu, born with an extraordinary ability to breathe fire. And his mother was gifted with a small ability to pull things towards herself, something she called Attraction. A weak ability in most people's eyes, but she had honed this small skill to a point where she could pull even the smallest cell in another's body towards herself. It truly was a sight to see. But even with both parents having respectively capable quirks, Izuku was not as lucky.

In a society such as the current one, being Quirkless was the same thing as having no worth. Although, the same could be said for those with a weak quirk or even one with abilities relating to anything concerning another person. 'Villainous quirks', his mother had described to him. In Izuku's opinion, if anyone was a villain, it was the douchebag who handed him the deck of cards he called life.

Despite him being the son of two respectively powerful people and somehow not possessing even an ounce of power himself, Hisashi and Inko had nothing but love for their son. Combined with the experiences of Inko's prior quirk discrimination and the unease of Hisashi's parentage, the two made sure to provide Izuku with the best they had to offer. Hisashi began to give him small lessons on self defense until Izuku asked him outright to train him to be the best. Inko taught Izuku all the knowledge she had to offer, ranging from how to cook and mend clothes, all the way to how to pick a pocket with no one knowing.

The small family had been happy, they didn't have anyone that wanted to stay by their side, and that was ok with them. The three of them lived in a world that shone with lights, the kind that was assured to never dim, no matter the occasion, but nothing is ever permanent.

After Izuku's seventh birthday everything seemed to take a steep decline. Everyday Izuku sat and watched as his mother and father stressed over something that Izuku had no knowledge of. Something that seemed to haunt his parents. No matter how they tried to keep their smiles in place for Izuku's sake, his mind was brilliant. And despite all of his attempts, Izuku never found out what exactly it was.

Speaking of the funeral, apparently whoever had been the culprit of worrying his parents to death - no pun intended- was bad enough for all of their assets to be put on hold. So, with no money or family, Izuku was placed in the care of an orphanage. It was during his brief stay there that Izuku decided that he couldn't depend on others. He resigned to carrying himself throughout life. It was safer and more dependable.

So he ran. He packed up his measly belongings; nothing more than a photograph of his parents and the notebook about heroes that he and his father spent countless hours constructing and set off on his own. He hadn't looked back once. He hadn't wanted to until now.

A/N:

I apologize for the lengthy absence, I had a slight breakdown and needed to take some time away. But I'm back and with too much energy. Due to issues with boredom I started planning a new book and- you guys get it right? No worries though, this one will be my main focus.

Fun Fact: I have never read a fanfic where Izuku had a shield quirk (hence my new book). I honestly thought it would be a common idea, but it isn't. I have now invested in that idea.

Thanks for reading and see you soon!
