Chapter 9: The Land of Waves

It's been half a month since Kiyoshi and his teammates had official genin. His team had gone on nothing but D-rank missions consisting of babysitting, dog walking, and cleaning trash out of the river.

Today they just finished another D-rank mission to clean up the kennels at the Inuzuka's dog shelter. They were now in the Hokage's office and Team seven, waiting to get assigned their next mission.

"Good job. Since Team four was here first, they will get their next mission first," The Hokage said. "From your reports from your sensei, you are ready for a c-rank mission. The mission consists of escorting. I will explain who it is after I give Team seven their next mission."

"Alright, I understand kind of a surprise Kakashi actually came here after his mission and was not lost on the path of life," Haruko said.

"You always have something to say, Haruko," Kakashi said.

"So that the Kakashi she mention hating the book he reads," Ken whispered to his two teammates.

"Alright, as for the team seven next mission, "The hokage said."I have either babysitting the Daimyo's toddler, cleaning the park, picking wee-"

"No!" Naruto shouted while making an x with his arms. "I want a better mission like team eight, not some simple chore!"

Kiyoshi sighed, shaking his head at how much of an idiot Naruto is.

"You Idiot," Iruka screamed angrily while slamming his hand on the table. "You're just a mere Genin. You've no experience for more complex missions! You have to build your way up from the bottom!"

"Calm down, Iruka," The Hokage chuckled."Naruto, you see, missions are assigned by rank. Genin get given D, and sometimes C-ranked missions so that it won't be too complex and also because Genin are the lowest level shinobi. Team four is getting a c-rank because Haruko reported the last few missions. They are ready for a c-rank mission. Chunin gets assignments on the C and B rank because they are a level higher than Genins. Missions of B and A-ranked get assigned to Jounins since they are the highest level of Shinobi. But if you become ANBU, you get assigned the most challenging tasks, which are S ranked since they are elite shinobi. You see, every mission has a different rank...Pay attention! The only ones who listen are Haruko, Kiyoshi, and Takara, and they're not the ones I'm talking to," He explained before scolding Team seven.

'Well, the more you know that was a long explanation, but teach the importance of the ranks.' Kiyoshi thought.

"Sorry, Lord Hokage," Kakashi apologized.

"Bah! You always scold me like i'm a little kid, well i'm not a kid anymore. I'm a ninja," Naruto states, pouting like a kid crossing his arms.

"Well, he sure acts like a little," Ken muttered.

"Fine, since Naruto says he, not a kid anymore. I'll let you go on the C-ranked mission with team four," The Hokage agreed with a smile.

'You gotta be joking. I have to deal with this nine-tailed knucklehead and the pervert.' Haruko thought, annoyed.

"Yes, c-rank. Who are we escorting? Is it a princess? A federal lord?" Naruto asked, full of excitement.

"Please send him in," The Hokage commanded.

The room grows silent as they wait for the client to arrive with the intense silence surrounding them. Kiyoshi could hear the incoming footsteps as they got closer to the office. The door opens, making them stand firm, the pungent smell of booze making Kiyoshi's nose scrunched up.

A man around his late forties or mid-fifties walks in. He is tan; he has wrinkles in the corner of his eyes, and a gray goatee hanging from his chin. He's dressed in a brown shirt, grey slacks, and simple sandals. On his neck is a white towel. On his head is a pointy hat made to protect a person from the sun's harsh rays. And finally, a pair of thin-rimmed glasses lying on his nose.
