Hanahaki disease can happen when a person expresses or tells their crush they have feelings for them. If their crush doesn't love them back this could cause the person to start growing flowers/ flower petals to grow inside their lungs. Types of flowers can vary, it could be the crushes favorite flower,color,or just be random. ( if your crush likes roses then thats a fat L to you)
Usually the patient will cough/throw up petals being pretty fucking painful. To stop the flowers from growing the crush must grow feelings back for the patient, if that doesn't work the patient can undergo surgery to get rid of the flowers but will lose all feelings for their crush. If nothing is done in time or the patient chooses to do nothing about it flowers will fill up the lungs and cause them to suffocate and die.

The length of the disease usually goes on for around 2-3 months but can also vary depending on the person.
Hanahaki comes from two Japanese words hana and hakimasu which mean flower and to throw up.
