blanket of fall

daylight scattered the wooden floor
hues of apollo splattered valentine's paint
our shadows danced with autumn before
ginger leaves never felt the same

initials etched on the nearest tree
my flesh held our alphabets dear
swollen heart, delusional, grief
troubled by achilles' sphere

stars fell
morning comes
hidden away its confident light
what happened to it once it's gone?
why did our love have to die?

your glowing ghost watched over me
in the amalgam of forest and rain
despite the chillness of this haunted place,
i still find comfort over the grave
